I did get to go inside Abbey Road once. They should get those guys who recreated the second side of the Abbey Road album - someone put a link here to their video a while back I think. Will they have Yoko sitting in the corner knitting? Also, new Allen Klein book apparently. http://www.salon.com/2015/06/21/the_prize_when_news_of_the_beatles_imminent_financial_danger_spread_notorious_manager_allen_klein_knew_his_time_had_come/

Hixter
I don't know if I will buy this or not: The Beatles - 1 (CD/Blu-ray audio/video) - November 6th 2015I'm seriously considering it. 5.1 mixes and restored 4K videos are very tempting. They did a great job on this video; it almost looks like it was filmed yesterday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rblYSKz_VnI
Analogman
I was thinking maybe there was a plain dvd release - maybe there isn't. I don't own a Blu-ray player or surround sound system.
RaspberryJam
It's Beatles Day on WTMD, my local college station (Towson U.). They are playing all the albums in chronological order with lots of interesting info in between. You can listen on line or on their app.

Analogman
I think I noticed that the other day. I don't know why I didn't notice it the first time. I suppose I am behind on my Beatles product buying. I never bought the last re-masters.

Analogman
Which is funny - because it has always been stated that John had the first one.
Moss
Wow, how crazy that Ringo was in line at Tower records and managed to get white album #1?

Winston Legthigh
If anyone wants to pick up Ringo's original Ludwig drum kit, the current bid is only at $400,000. A steal at twice the price. http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/163/lot/70811/?url=%2Fview-auctions%2Fcatalog%2Fid%2F163%2F%3Fpage%3D1%26key%3D%26cat%3D%26xclosed%3Dno%26sortlot%3Dprice%26sorthighlow%3Dhighlow
Analogman
I wonder if that bass drum head is a replacement? I say that as in the photos of his drums in the Beatles gear book almost all of the Beatles logos are cut out of the bass drum skins.
Winston Legthigh
I wonder if that bass drum head is a replacement? I say that as in the photos of his drums in the Beatles gear book almost all of the Beatles logos are cut out of the bass drum skins. It most definitely is a replacement. The write-up says Paul most likely removed it, after he commandeered it and took it to his Scotland home to make his debut solo album.
Sir Stewart
The Ludwig logo in the pic is different than the one in the band pic, too. The 'g' looks cut off in the band pic - and I just spent way too much time investigating if it's cut off in the performance that pic is from. It's not. I think it means Paul really was dead. Analogman
I saw a photo yesterday of Ringo sitting behind the oversize drums from the Hello Goodbye film. I think those are in the auction also.
calvino
Is Ringo hurting for money or is just downsizing and unloading stuff?
Sir Stewart
I can't find any info on this, but I recall Ringo recording a drum track for Love Me Do sometime in the late 90s. Anyone?
Sir Stewart
I've probably posted these here before, but I was cleaning out some stuff on my site, and rediscovered these (links open PDFs):Mark Lewisohn's The Beatles Recording SessionsMark Lewisohn's The Complete Beatles Chronicle Searching VC for Lewisohn it turns out I got those files from someone who shared them here. Ha.
Analogman
I have those books. I think he is giving all the money from the auction to charity.
