Wild Frank
With our love of lists and rankings, this should stir up some debate. Wilco in at 72!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?ie=UTF8&docId=1000431011
Plumplechook
Where the hell is 'The J Giels Band - Live Full House'? Best live album ever.
LouieB
Isn't this like every halfway decent live album ever done? LouieB
uncool2pillow
Props to Koln Concert cracking the top 10.
Calexico
Bowie's Stage and Depeche Mode's 101 gets in there and no Rory Gallagher Irish Tour '74? Yeah, right...
Analogman
Since it is Amazon.com, I would think that list is based on sales (in this case Mp3 downloads.) One of our old threads about live albums is probably better, but that one may be more diverse, actually.
Vacant Horizon
Some they missed that are my favorites: Frampton Comes Alive-Peter FramptonWithout A Net-Grateful DeadLive Dead-Grateful DeadSlip Stitch Pass-PhishLive and Dangerous-Thin LizzyPat Metheny Group-Travels Live I'm not huge on live albums, but if I get that vibe of the room etc., then i dig 'em. Calexico
Surely Frampton's album is in there. Lizzy's live one is there I remember seeing.
Analogman
Surely Frampton's album is in there. Lizzy's live one is there I remember seeing. It is (the super deluxe totally awesome re-mastered version). Of course, a lot of those albums are not exactly live.
TCP
Can't respect a list that ignores the live Sloan record. And The Band too!!! Do the writers just hate Canada and our awesome health care? Jealous pricks.
u2roolz
I'm surprised Throwing Copper didn't make the list.
mpolak21
I'm surprised Throwing Copper didn't make the list. (Low and way off key....)Oh now feel it comin' back againLike a rollin' thunder chasing the windForces pullin' from the center of the earth againI can feel it --Mike
Dude
They don't even have the right Sam Cooke album - Live at the Harlem Square Club (1963) captures the spontaneous energy of a live show better than just about every other entry on this list.
Mr. Kinsley
Unless I just missed it, I was very surprised that Rush in Rio made the list and not Exit... Stage Left. Otherwise, with a couple of other exceptions, not a bad list.
mountain bed
Where the hell is 'The J Giels Band - Live Full House'? Best live album ever.I don't know about "best", but if Full House or Live Dead isn't in the top 100 this list is shit.
twigboyjoe
No Last Waltz????! No My Morning Jacket? Just the first two missing at a glance..
PopTodd
It's easy to miss, but:Brinsley Schwarz - Cruel to Be Kinddeserves to be there.
jff
Unless I just missed it, I was very surprised that Rush in Rio made the list and not Exit... Stage Left. Otherwise, with a couple of other exceptions, not a bad list. I also prefer Exit, but if I recall, the band has admitted to extensive studio fix-ups on that one. Not that Amazon cares about such things.
Mr. Heartbreak
This would probably be more appropriate for the blasphemy thread, but I have to admit that James Brown Live At The Apollo never did much for me.
Winston Legthigh
I would swap Talking Heads' "The name of this band is" for "Stop Making Sense" Also - Zappa's You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol II is a killer concert recording. (Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life and Make a Jazz Noise Here also deserve mention.) There's also several "__________ live at the BBC" albums that weren't listed: Beatles, Kinks, Bowie, Hendrix, Zeppelin, XTC...
tinnitus photography
Where the hell is 'The J Giels Band - Live Full House'? Best live album ever. no, the best live LP ever made (and one not listed in this top 100) is BOC's _On Your Feet Or On Your Knees_.
W(TF)
Ummm...no Little Feat or Allman Bros., WTF. Okonokos is a big omission too. And since jazz was fair game, why not Jazz At Massey Hall aka The Greatest Concert Ever Played?
Sir Stewart
Since it is Amazon.com, I would think that list is based on sales (in this case Mp3 downloads.) Yeah, a music list on Amazon carries as much weight as "Top Ten McDonald's Menu Items" on mcdonalds.com
Analogman
Yeah, a music list on Amazon carries as much weight as "Top Ten McDonald's Menu Items" on mcdonalds.com I will be up your way this week. Maybe we can go find The Boston Tea Party.
