Joe Morgan returns to the Reds.

I really thought this would force Morgan out of the booth (my wish), but no:

"For the past two decades, Morgan has been a fixture on ESPN as a game analyst for Sunday Night Baseball. He is remaining with the cable network and doing his work for the Reds in a part-time capacity."

Never liked his color commentating/analyzing (no pun intended).

They're Mets fans, at what I am guessing is Shea, unless Citi Field has degenerated that quickly.

They're also in a little band called Yo La Tengo.

i'm just going to give my guy a little pub here.

Ryan Braun is off to an awesome start. .417 avg, 5 hr, 18 rbi, 4 sb. this kid is a legitimate contender for Triple Crown. doubtful it will happen with Pujols, Ramirez in the NL but damn, Brauny is really playing some good ball.

Brewers sweep Pirates scoring 36 runs to Pirates 1. I know it is the Pirates and they aren't good but that is impressive.

When Braun was still available at #7 in my fantasy draft, it took me all of about a nano second to decide he was my pick. He is a great ball player.

Back in 2005, I was at a Brewers/Cubs game at Wrigley with some friends, one of which is a Brewers fan. He was talking about this kid that the Brewers had just drafted and how he was going to be the best player in the league someday. We all laughed our asses off. I've since lost touch with the friend, but I can bet he's getting the last laugh now.

Arod crossing the mound today in Oakland? What's his deal with the shitty baseball sportsmanship/etiquette? Yelling at Howie Clark to make him think he's being called off the play, the slappy play on Arroyo. Not A-rod bashing, but really, what's the deal here? I realize he doesn't deserve to be singled out as the only player to show poor sportsmanship, but really: Yankee (pride?), highest paid player, etc.

A-Rod just HAS to have at least one A-Hole moment each season.

A's pitcher Dallas Braden:

  Quote
"It's pretty much baseball etiquette," Braden continued. "It's an extremely classy organization, the best in the business. I was trying to convey to him that I'm still out there, the ball is in my hand, and it's my pitcher's mound. If he wants to run across the pitcher's mound, tell him to go do laps in the bullpen."

Do I have to tell my child someday that he/she was in utero at Fenway for a Red Sox loss?

It's adorable that her story will be the same as yours when you were in utero.

To be fair, this is an unwritten rule which A-Rod claims to have never heard of. I had never heard it either, nor had the writers of numerous baseball blogs I read. That pitcher flipped out over an unwritten rule that no one but himself had ever heard of.

I had never heard of it either, but I've also never seen it happen in the thirty+ years I've been watching baseball. It just not courteous to be in another player's position if you don't have to, especially if a player gets in front of a guy or the other player gets interrupted in any fashion. If somebody runs across the back of the mound, he could trip on the dirt spikes or the rubber and risk his own injury. Each pitcher has their own landing area on the front of the mound, and it would quite rude for another player to foul those up because he didn't want to run behind the mound and between all the other players. And A-Rod was completely out of line to call the pitcher a "nobody" in the press just because they had a disagreement.

This is what bothered me most about the whole situation. I'm not saying Braden didn't overreact, but just because a guy has "a handful of wins," he shouldn't say anything if he thinks he has been disrespected just because the other guy is a superstar? (And in case A-Rod didn't notice, one of those wins had just come against his team. ;) )

Also, while it's obviously not as well-known as not lollygagging around the bases after hitting a home run, I wouldn't say nobody has heard of this rule. From all the stuff I read, it seemed a fair number of people had heard of it.

That's a hefty deal.

That team is really old, and with the Halladay and Lee trades they don't have a ton of young talent coming through the pipes.

really old? I think the ageless wonder Jamie ("Walken") Moyer might skew the average......what ARE the averages anyway? anyone know the average team age/ rank???

Here is a ESPN link.

It looks like the average age is 28 or 29. I can't find a date on the link, though, I am assuming it is currant data.
