dtram
Gonna give The Who some love here, been my fav since '82, co-favorite band with R.E.M. for the last 20 years. If you are not familiar, track down a copy of Live at Leeds, Who's Next and Quadrophenia. No better Rock 'n Roll has been made. Others I probably like more than Wilco are Brian Wilson/Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Beatles, The Band, the Stones altough right now, except for the Dead, I probably listen to Wilco more than any of the above. Acts that Wilco have gone by on my favorites list would be Joe Jackson (by a nose) Little Feat, Steely Dan, Bowie, Genesis, Zevon, Stevie Wonder, The Kinks/
tinnitus photography
Jandek awesome avatar, btw. i saw Jandek a few years ago and wished that he had played a different set (or shorter). still like some of his records quite a bit though. this question is impossible for me to answer, as i likely have far too many to list (and that's not a knock on Wilco, who I think are a great band, I just have loads of bands I enjoy mightily). Terrapin Ben
Wilco, Phish and Dylan are my Top
SeattleC
Live the only other bands I've seen in the last few years that are on the same plane are: Crowded House Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3 Eels (an evasive answer I suppose) In the historical record, Wilco hasn't topped the Beatles, the Kinks, or Beethoven for me. Not yet anyway.

YouWereRightAboutTheStars
Tier 1: Dylan, Earle, Wilco Tier 2: Nelson, Robert Earl Keane, CCR, Cracker
bjorn_skurj
The Beatles, The Clash and Ozzy-era Black Sabbath, and that is about it. Wilco now is as loved by me as Pink Floyd and Gabriel-era Genesis, as well as Zeppelin and Bomb Squad-era Public Enemy.
Ghost of Electricity
Wilco's run from Being There to A Ghost is Born might be one of my favorite stretches any band as ever had. this. Wilco and Dylan pass the no. 1 spot back and forth these days. Back in my college years The Velvet Underground held the number one spot for a stunning 5 or 6 years. (Why don't they have a font that looks like Kasey Kasem's voice sounds?)
Sweet Papa Crimbo
I agree with the tiering of favorites. Tier One --- Springsteen, Wilco, U2,DBTTier One a --- Dylan, Young, RAdiohead, Alejandro Escovedo (Pearl Jam and Ryan Adams have moved in and out through the years) However, I find that I connect with Wilco more than any other band. I like all of the above bands. I OBSESS over Wilco and Springsteen
Gobias Industries
I would say none, but that's because the question is framed as "what bands or artist do you like more than Wilco." Wilco will always be my favorite band ever, being my first love when it comes to music. But I quite obviously acknowledge the presence of "better" artists out there, and so given a composite measure of "how good I think they are" and "how much I love them" you'd probably get this: 1. The Beatles2. Bob Dylan3. The Band4. Wilco5. Pavement
Wilco Worshipper
None more than Wilco, not now and more than likely not ever.

HungryHippo
Joseph Arthur and Ryan Adams. I actually like them all equally, they're like my children. edit: omg, I forgot about Dylan!!! saw my sig after posting and it reminded me.

gwfb
Equally : Wilco, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Mogwai, Pavement and Slint
Wild Frank
I didn't include the Beatles on my list because they transcend everything for meI feel this way about Dylan. He is so far ahead of everyone else that I don't even bother to mention him in these type of threads. I don't even listen to him that much these days but for influence and sheer body of work he is light-years ahead of everyone else (even The Beatles).

rwilson580
I didn't include the Beatles on my list because they transcend everything for me Yeah, I automatically exclude the Beatles from this kind of list, too. I don't know what to do with the Beatles. Saying that the Beatles are a favorite is like saying I enjoy breathing. I do believe that Bob Dylan is the only reasonable alternative you can make to the Beatles as "greatest rock artist ever." But I don't have the same issues comparing Dylan to others. He's more of an acquired taste, and his cultural influence isn't as ridiculously pervasive as the Beatles' was. To steal from that old Robin Williams line (that he probably stole from someone else), the Beatles are in my DNA. Bob Dylan isn't.
paulcalypse
#1 will always be Neil Young. Usually for two weeks after I see Wilco, they are my favorite band, but often these bands take turns being my favorite: Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., and Built to Spill. Again, Neil Young is always the king.
barbkm
No one. REM, Robyn Hitchcock and Andrew Bird all trail behind the boys from the Windy City.
Guest Speed Racer
I saw him last year in Chapel Hill with my mother-in-law.It was one of the most intense things I've ever seen. I heard that show was great. I've seen him in Chicago and Grinnel - can't wait to see him again. He's probably just below Wilco for me, parallel to the Silver Jews at the moment.
