theologian
April- James The Night BeforeMay- Teenage Fanclub ShadowsJune- Crowded House Intriguer Great to see my childhood faves still trucking and making great music.
Beltmann
Isn't that James release in April just UK... I think the US release is later. Am I wrong? (I hope I'm wrong.) Like the sound of the new Gaslight Anthem. That record is one of my most eagerly anticipated releases of the summer.
Azzurri
Gaslight Anthem...I had never heard of them until recently and after listening to half of a song I was ready to dismiss them as a bar band doing Springsteen covers but I am glad I persisted and gave them a chance. They have some infectious tunes and pretty good lyrics...they're good at what they do and it's oddly refreshing to hear some straight ahead rock.

It's a rock show.

bsr8j
i found a leak today of his new record "all the days are nights: songs for lulu" on google today! so good! the song "when i most wink" is amazing. he's got a voice like no other. So I'm listening to the clips on his website. Is the whole thing just him and a piano? I think I'd like that in small doses, but I'm not sure how I'll like a whole album that is so bare (if anything Rufus sings on could be called "bare" with a voice like his). It's really good, but after 3-4 listens it turns into background music. But gosh- "When Most I Wink" is gorgeous.

Wild Frank
Ed Harcourt on June 15Cool. I used to love Ed's stuff but had kind of lost touch with him in recent years. His first three records were quality. Good live show aswell. Quite Tom Waitish....if Tom were in his thirties....and English.

The new Phosphorescent record is pretty easily the most perfect thing I've heard all year. You can get a download of the full album if you pre-order it on Dead Oceans.
