Nobody listens to the (new) Avett Bros. anymore.....

That's cool if you feel that way. I've heard many express that sentiment. I hadn't heard anything off the newest album going into the show last night because I heard so many others gripe about it that I didn't bother taking the time to check out the things they've released. I was pretty blown away by all the tunes that I didn't know (that I assume must be from the forthcoming release). Whether you are into their new tunes or not, they still put on a hell of a live show. Last night was the first time I've seen them play Pretty Girl From Chile and it was one of the greatest things I've ever seen happen at a concert.

Count me as one who LOVED the avetts (4 thieves thru 2nd gleam is a brilliant run). But I starting souring on the avetts during I and Love and You. Barely listened to Carpneter. And the one teaser from Magpile was wholely uninspiring.

With that said, PGFC live is one the most amazing performances. I have not witnessed live (so jealous), but the youtube clips are impressive. Check out the one from Solona Beach, for example. They will prolly always bring a good live show.

They just announced a Boston area show - and they are playing at the TD Garden (which has a capacity of probably 18,000+ for a concert).  I had no idea they were so popular.

Popular like a fox....

Lucky you. I'm hoping to see him this weekend.

I implore you to go!  Many "Wow!"s were heard on the way out, I can tell you.  Who else can do a Fiona Apple cover on mandolin where he essentially uses every part of the instrument as percussion and then follows it with a 15 minute Bach piece that got a 2-3 minute ovation afterward?  Just amazing stuff.

Just found out that The Waterboys are playing in town tonight.

Of course I'm not going to be able to go.

And it's at the little theater in The Old Town School, too. Great venue.

Damn.
