winterland121072
Looking to pull some of the shows at owl / bear. Any recommendations on spectacular / exceptional performances? So far, the following have blown me away more so than some other shows:2004-10-302004-11-132005-04-252005-03-052005-06-282008-03-092008-05-152009-10-092009-11-11 I was a deadhead for many years (kind of like being catholic or an alcoholic - you'll always be a deadhead) and noted that while every show was special, there were some shows that were quite special or exceptional.... The recording is so-so due to the chatter, the bar noise and the fact that the mics had to be back by the board. But "You're Really Gone" is a pre-cursor to "Hate It Here", which was really cool to hear it evolve from that to the song.

And the one listed as "? - new song" is a early acoustic version of "Panthers". Very cool. The recording is so-so. It seems mike was placed next to cash register, tip jar or something. hazel
I really love the early shows from the lounge ax, something really special about those. Great banter and some might think I'm weird but I love the sounds of the beer bottles clanking in the background. Those shows were really something. Wish I coulda been there. IrishMickyWard
check the download sites (etree,dimeadozen,etc...) . over the past couple years there have been a lot of new early wilco sbd's put online/uploaded (most from 1999, 2000, & 2001). if not still being "seeded" - they probably can be found on Owl & Bear ( )- if not now - in the near future. KevinG
Getting in the way back machine the 3/12/2001 Jeff Tweedy solo show at the old Guthrie in Minneapolis. Remarkable for a couple of things1) The stage was set up for some play, where it looked like the entry way to a large house, with the front door directly behind Jeff. It made it feel as though you were in his house listening to him play. Also the guitar tech would walk around to the door and ring the door bell every time he would bring Jeff a guitar. 2) Great Tweedy banter, reference to things being cock. 3) Guest appearance by Gary Louris, and the best live version of Radio King I have ever heard. Set List Here Owl and Bear Archive here

I bet the doorbell was broke by the end of the show. Though I am not sure if switched his guitars as much back then as he does now.
