That was as close to a happy ending as possible in the Breaking Bad universe:

- all the bad guys are dead (Walt included)

- Jesse is free (but psychologically damaged beyond repair)

- the White family gets his money (and lives with the shame of how Walt destroyed everything and everyone around him)

- Walt dies on his terms

 i liked the finale...but, unlike the previous seasons, the finale seemed a bit implausible to me. Everything just seemed to really fall in place for Walt - moreso than with anything else he had done. It would have been a real kick in the gut (but a satisfying kick) if after walt killed hte fascists and jessie escaped - the episode suddenly showed walt still lying in teh cabin in new hampshire - freezing to death...revealing that the finale was nothing more a dying man's last fantasy...

See, I would have hated that. I enjoyed the fact that Walt was able to use that M-60, but basically by remote control. One last chance to see him use that scientific mind to MacGyver his way through a situation.

Not sure it really "fell into place" for him. Was he originally planning on killing himself along with the Nazis, and only hit the floor because he wanted to save Jesse, and, therefore, tackled him? Hard to say. My guess is yes, but either way, he ended up miscalculating (I think) and got hit by a bullet.

That level of implausibility was fine for me, just as I was cool with him having that wound that was fatal but not instantaneously fatal. Reminded me, in a good way, of all those spaghetti Westerns that Vince Gilligan and I both love. :lol

How awesome was Baby Blue by Badfinger at the end?

Loved that and it's been running through my head all day.  "Guess I got, what I deserved!"... Perfect.

Never thought things would tie up so cleanly, even down to Jesse getting to take out Todd himself.

I'm probably the only one who didn't catch the Ricin in the tea even though they made it pretty obvious.  Just was not thinking about it I guess.

Overall, very very satisfied with the end.

FeLiNa

Fe = Iron= Blood

Li = Lithium = Meth

NA = Sodium = Tears

Best series finale I can recall.

This was one of the best, but I will never forget the finale of the second Bob Newhart show.

I was completely fine with the episode ---- hopefully Jesse finds some solace. It was great to see Skinny Pete and Badger one last time, too.

I was really happy that Lydia found her demise and the Grey Matter people found their feet on the fire.

Don't get me wrong I loved the finale, but how fitting would it have been if he got to the Nazi house and instead of them fetching Jesse they just shoot Walt in the head, then they take his body out to throw it in his trunk, where we see what his plan was, so close, but just short.

I would have been bummed if Jesse didn't get out alive - of all the characters, Jesse seemed the 'most innocent' and showed the most sympathy, growth, and sorrow for what he had done. I would like to think he overheard where the Nazi's hid the money and I wonder if he will come around and find it and use it for his own benefit, I would doubt he would, though. He has learned a 'great' skill, if he ever needs money again, though.

I am glad Walt, Lydia, and the Nazi's met their demise.

Exactly, EVERYBODY wanted Jesse to live and the Nazis to die, it would have pissed people off bigtime.

What I want is a spin off, "Better Call Saul", make it a comedy, pre-Walt days.

I believe that is in the works.

In news that will please soon-to-be-in-mourning Breaking Bad fans, AMC is greenlighting a spin-off series that will feature Breaking Bad character Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. While the network and studio, Sony Pictures Television, announced today only that they have reached a licensing agreement for the show, it’s expected to receive a series order from AMC once contracts are finalized.

The spin-off is designed as a one-hour prequel that will chronicle the exploits of the show’s charmingly disreputable lawyer, whose famous slogan is “Better Call Saul,” before he crossed paths with meth lord Walter White (Bran Cranston). Breaking Bad creator/executive producer Vince Gilligan has been developing the concept with co-executive producer Peter Gould.

The ONLY bad thing about Breaking Bad is now we are going to get poorly conceived copies trying to capitalize on the gritty crime drama format.

Saw the same shit go down after the Sopranos, The Wire and The Shield

  • 2 weeks later...

Todd's ringtone for Lydia was the old Groucho Marx tune, "Lydia the Tattooed Lady." It was hysterical! The only false note was that dumb Todd would never have known who Groucho Marx was!

He only would've needed to Google "songs with the name Lydia", which is probably exactly what he did.

That is way, way too much to cram in 3 freaking episodes.

There is just too much tension between Hank and Walt to let it end with him dying in the shoot out. Also Todd has become too interesting for him die as well, there is too much between him and Lydia. But Gomie is gone for sure, as well as Uncle Nazi and Devil from Justified. Jessie makes out as well. But ends up on the run thinking everyone else is dead.

But I cannot wrap my head around anything else. I mean there are only 3 freaking episodes left. I just hope they wrap everything up and don't have a cop out ending.

Wow you were off on just about everything here.

One other unanswered question: How did Walt have so much engineering expertise? The man was a chemist - that does not line up with his being able to rig that gun/trunk contraption (among other things throughout the series).

I don't care

I think more than anything he was extremely smart.  Throughout the show he used more than chemistry to solve problems.

Okay, I finally saw the whole thing.  Just finished watching finale.  My only question is this:  over the course of the whole show, all those intense scenes shot in the desert, and not one rattlesnake anywhere?  For some reason I kept expecting one and it never materialized.  Too obvious, maybe.

There was one in my back yard about 3 weeks ago - about 4 feet long - had to pay a guy 30 dollars to grab it and take it away - never will forget the sound of that rattle.
