Who's at your imaginary dinner party?

Recommended Posts

I saw Morgan Freeman on the Daily Show yesterday.  It reminded me how much I'd like to sit down and have a drink and chat with the guy.  He's brilliant, unassuming, charismatic and funny.  I would love to have the guy over for dinner.

Willie Nelson.

Do I really need to explain why?

Living or dead?

Stephen Fry

David Attenborough

Michael Palin

Bill Murray

Nels Cline

Charlie Brooker

If dead is an option, I'll add:

Christopher Hitchens

George Harrison

Graham Chapman

Freddie Mercury

I've left off a few people whose talent I admire, but are known to be assholes.

Emily Dickinson and Jeff Tweedy! I think they'd have a lot to talk about regarding words and poetry. All three of us are/were introverts but I think they would have plenty to say to each other that I could just sit back and listen (I'm generally beyond terrible at impromptu conversation or verbal chit chat). I wonder where they'd want to meet and what would be on the menu?

Something like:-

Spike Milligan

Lennon on a good day, otherwise nice George

Garrison Keillor

Alan Bennett

Peter Cook

Barry Cryer

Michael Palin

Kathy Burke

Guy Garvey

Johnny Vegas

Emma Thompson

Gore Vidal

Should be a belly laugh or two in that lot, but with some complex personalities for deeper interest
