choo-choo-charlie
Sky Blue Sky is #40. Dark Side of the Moon is #3. Axis: Bold as Love is #1. Other interesting selection(s): http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/the-40-greatest-stoner-albums-20130607/wilco-sky-blue-sky-19691231
remphish1
"high"ly agree with MBV and Sigur Ros.. Kidding I don't smoke but those albums put me in another frame of mind! Also, either Tame Impala album should be on the list too!
worldrecordplayer
Live/Dead at #7. I only looked at the top 10, did the first Cowboy Junkies album make the list?
choo-choo-charlie
Nope.

laundrymachinedream
I always thought AGIB was the best.
tinnitus photography
how the fuck does this record not even crack the top 40? oh yeah, it's rolling stone we're talking about. btw, it's Sleep's Dopesmoker (the artwork for the new reissue).
mpolak21
Yankee would be my particular choice, but SBS works pretty well in this context.
Muzzle of Dan
I always go with YHF. Definitely the best for this circumstance for me.
mountain bed
I always go with YHF. Definitely the best for this circumstance for me.Yep. Maybe Summerteeth a second choice, or Ghost. SBS? HELL no, that's crazy.
Albert Tatlock
I don't think any stoner would be focused enough to be able to make a list that long ...
Skian
How stoned? I did not see the rules of engagement. Are we talking "one toke over the line" or drooling from the eyes after a session with Master Cylinder.I would have thought that Sgt Pepper's would have made the top 40 or at least a Neil Young album? (Everybody Knows This Nowhere?)
lost highway
I don't think any stoner would be focused enough to be able to make a list that long ... I'm reaching for an unfair prejudice word for stoners, but I keep laughing them off. You're being stonerist? Stonerphobic? Sober supremacist?

LouieB
Really? Has Rolling Stone been reduced to THIS?? LouieB
Mr. Heartbreak
Really? Has Rolling Stone been reduced to THIS?? LouieBPretty much the whole new issue is about weed and how the legalization battle is the next "civil rights" issue after gay marriage.
choo-choo-charlie
I haven't read RS in years. I only came across this because a friend who knows I love Wilco saw it and sent me the link. I think the last time I bought a RS was in an airport when I had no other options for reading material.
mpolak21
Yep. Maybe Summerteeth a second choice, or Ghost. SBS? HELL no, that's crazy. My best guess for SBS's selection is that it keeps a pretty steady mood throughout. Unless you have a pathlogical hatred of Leave Me Like You Found Me, that record is going to pull you out of a relaxed mindset. I could see some of Summerteeth's moments like Via Chicago being a buzz kill if I was in the wrong crowd/on the wrong stuff. Though ST does come with the advice to Smoke Pot, Smoke Pot, Smoke Pot. This is probably some form of drug confirmation bias, but Ghost sounds more like a painkillers record to me than pot. I'm thinking way too much about this.

froggie
Pretty much the whole new issue is about weed and how the legalization battle is the next "civil rights" issue after gay marriage. i think i read that edition a few years ago!
