My top 5 (with far less to choose from than remphish and some of the others around here!).

#1 - Wilco in Sao Paulo Brazil.  Night 1 Popload festival 10/8 slightly ahead of the Night 2 smaller show on 10/9.

#2 - Califone LRS in Chicago 5/14 (which made for a nice two-fer with the JT Vic show on 5/13)

#3 - Jayhawks 5/20 at Headliners in Louisville

#4 - Yo La Tengo 3/29 at Exit/In in Nashville

#5 - Wilco two night stand at the Tabernacle in Atlanta Feb 10 & 11.  Feb 10 was the better of the two; BBN was played (see profile pic....)

Wilco

Duran Duran & Chic

Dungen & Quilt

Voivod

Violent Femmes

Brian Wilson

Absolutely Not & Rudest Priest (Never had heard of either of these bands, but we wanted to see a small show when we were in Albuquerque in March, and they were both really good and a lot of fun.)

Ty Segall and the Muggers

Booker T. Jones

Los Lobos with Ballet Folklorico in the Chicago burbs last February. I think that other than Day 2 of the Pitchfork Fest, that was the only show I went to. Loved it.

Los Lobos played an acoustic set that was lovingly choreographed by the Ballet Folklorico dance troupe. Hidalgo's voice was in fine form, even though he was battling the crud that night. Though, he seems to be gaining a little weight every time I see him. I hope he can get that under control. Fat guys don't get too old.

But, the best show this year will be the best show every year: The Annual Waco Brothers holiday stand at Schubas on Dec. 29.

I only saw a few. All memorable in their own way.

Marc Maron in April in Iowa City - Does comedy count. I saw him about a month after my mom died. Great laughs after a shitty month.

KISS - Took my 11 year old son. Bucket list. They really know how to do an arena show and push all their fans' buttons.

Bob Mould - I used to see him about once a year. First band show I'd seen since 1998. Tremendous fun, especially since I took my pastor and her husband.

Jason Isbell - Never disappoints. Such a great show. He pays attention to all the details: sound, lights, set list, connecting to his audience.

Ben Folds - I like him a lot, but the wife adores him. Not too familiar with his most recent material, but he's got a great voice and stage presence.

Saw a bunch of shows so far, most of which were "favorites"  :guitar but these of particular note:

Lettuce at HOB-Boston

Wilco-3 shows in 4 nights was probably the highligt of the year for me: one at State Theater, Portland and two at the Orpheum

Isbell at HOB

The Who-first time for me, cross that off my bucket list. That was always a big hole in my rock n roll resume

Drive By Truckers in Providence

Beach House at HOB

Lucinda at the Paradise

JazzFest, second weekend-all of it but of particular note was Neil in the rain, MMJ, and Los Lobos/Tab Benoit at night at Republic

Monsters of Funk, or whatever the George Porter, Jr./Zigaboo/Krasno and Evans band was called, at the Paradise

Phish at Great Woods

Dead and Company at Fenway

Elvis Costello at the Orpheum

Also saw a bunch of good comedy shows: Amy Schumer, Steve Martin/Martin Short and Kathy Griffin

Still to come in '16-two nights of Tedeschi Trucks Band at Orpheum, JRAD at HOB, and Jim Jeffries.

I was supposed to go see Los Lobos open for Leftover Salmon at The Fillmore this past Saturday but we never made it.

A couple of stand out shows for me this past year:

Phish at Dick's, particularly night #3

Stevie Wonder at Pepsi Center

Warren Haynes and CO Symphony Orchestra at Red Rocks

I went to a lot of shows this year, but not too many rose to the top of the best in my lifetime list.

Wolf Alice at Lincoln Hall, Chicago

Car Seat Headrest at Turner Hall, Milwaukee

Guns N' Roses at Ford Field, Detroit

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones at Thalia Hall, Chicago

borderline: Wilco at Hall's Island, Minneapolis

Expecting a great 2017 with Magnetic Fields, Ty Segall, Japandroids and Big Thief already lined up.

Winston, I'm happy to make you an honorary member of the Chez family for the evening!  I'll be there up front with my wife and four kids.

ha. Love it. You're already Making America Great Again. I will definitely be in touch. Will buy you a round if (can't believe I'm saying IF - I've made it every year since I moved to Chicago - 2011 was the first. This will be the 6th) I go.

Best:

Dinosaur Jr. at Metro (Chicago)

Loud as hell and tons of fun. There were a couple of tunes that they left off of the set list, but when you have 30 years to draw from, you can't please everyone. And, what they did play was great.

Worst:
Bob Dylan at Ravinia (Chicago area)

I know he doesn't like to play his hits too often, and that he likes to reinvent them when he does. Still, the reinvention of HIMSELF as an interpreter of American Standards is abysmal, even if his band was fantastic. The whole concept is crap.

i am actually pulling together a mental list right now.

i've seen about 100 bands and at least four festivals, so while it's not as many as I usually see, it's still a lot. i'll get around to posting around the xmas break.

I was waiting for your list. The Las Vegas over/under on how many of your bands I will have even heard of, let alone have heard, is 8. We went to the Who show, and I know you were at the Wilco/Orpheum shows. I think I'm going with the under.

I probably should have gone to the Lydia Loveless and Jonathan Richman shows.

You should totally go see Torche and Red Fang this Sunday!

My concert schedule's been pretty lean this year:

Wilco - Tabernacle - Atlanta, GA - both nights ( neither would land on my list of favorite Wilco shows, however)

The Cure - UNO Lakefront Arena - New Orleans, LA - both nights - Bob Smith can still sing

Loretta Lynn - IP Casino - Biloxi, MS - the show was shortened considerably because Loretta was under the weather, but it was a bucket list show for me and I took my mom, who's had her hands full the last two years with my dad being ill

Alejandro Escovedo - Chickie Wah Wah - New Orleans, LA - beautiful show made better because I met him after the show and talked about working with Peter Buck, baseball, etc.

Mavis Staples & the Blind Boys of Alabama - Bologna Performing Arts Center - Cleveland, MS - a homecoming of sorts for Mavis - I met her by chance while touring the new Grammy Museum Mississippi the afternoon of the concert - probably my favorite show of the year

You know I would consider taking you up on that, even though I never heard of either (which is why I'm taking the under), but already catching 3 straight nights of shows Thurs-Sat, can't possibly make it out Sunday night.
