  1. It sucks that, ultimately, Jeff Tweedy and his bandmates will decide what songs will be on the record. If Wilco was smart, they'd let guys like Jethro, Wheelco, Speed Racer....etc.....decide which songs make the cut. I just don't trust Tweedy. I mean, ok....the Tupelo records are great, as are his contributions on Golden Smog and Loose Fur, and AM, Being There, Summerteeth, YHF and AGIB are all stellar....as are both Mermaids...as are many unreleased tracks....as are his simple one-off songs like Jandek's Crack A Smile or the Zamboni Man soundtrack....and ok...big deal...he helped out
  2. If I had to describe 'Either Way' or 'Impossible Germany' or 'What Light', I'd use words like "beautiful" and "human" and "passionate". 'Bombastic' isn't a word that comes to mind. (Of course, my 3rd Grade teacher hasn't taught us that word yet. The bell just rang for recess, gotta go!)
  3. One think you guys DON'T have is a funny machine. When the next Wilco record comes out, all of you who know it already sucks can go have yourselves an A.M. listening party.
  4. Do some of guys have a time machine? You seem to know an awful lot about what the next record's gonna sound like.
  5. Jeff, My thoughts and prayers to you and your family. jn
  6. 1. Fatal Wound 2. Black Eye 3. Wait Up 4. Gun 5. Watch Me Fall 6. If That's Alright
  7. Oliver's quotes will look great on Bin Laden's websites. I truly believe quotes like his are used against us. Bin Laden must laugh his ass off reading crap like this. Stone and others simply want Americans to think they're so smart and so caring an so worldly. Hey Oliver, MOST Americans are confused and troubled about our exection of the war. You're not the only genius. You may be right that Bush screwed up, but c'mon, don't make a public rant that you're "embarrassed" to be American. What an idiotic thing to say! I think the world knows it's Bush, Cheney and Rice calling the shots. Abo
  8. I was a little tongue in cheek. Wilco DID play Chicago at Lollapalooza. There are many Wilco fans world-wide as rabid as Chicago fans who are lucky to have Wilco in town even once every couple years.
  9. 70's makes me think of my first 45... "We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun..."
  10. Come Thanksgiving, it will have been 3-AND-A-HALF MONTHS since Wilco played Chicago. Does Wilco even care about you Chicagoans? How do you put up with such dis-respect? Hell, at this rate, you won't see them again until March 2007. I don't know how you guys put up with that shit.
  11. Back to interview.... Here's some post interview quotes from Wallace: WALLACE: You know, here's the interesting thing about this: He did a bunch of interviews over the course of this last week. He talked to [CNN's] Larry King for about a half an hour. He did Tim Russert [host of NBC's Meet the Press], Keith Olbermann [host of MSNBC's Countdown], [NBC's] Meredith Vieira on the Today show. I've looked at all these interviews. I was the only one to ask him about his record fighting Al Qaeda. I have to say, particularly after the controversy over ABC and the docudrama, The Path to 9/11,
  12. Had O' Reilly asked the question, I would more understand Clinton's heated response. Wallace even prefaced his question by saying he'd been getting tons of emails about the subject. Clinton was out to get Fox. Plain and simple. Wallace just happened to be the guy in the way. Clinton WAS a bully. Leaning over into Wallace. Touching Wallace. Finger wagging. Almost insulting Wallace (Wallace....like his Dad...ALWAYS has a smirk-ish look on his face). Clinton's true colors came through brilliantly.
  13. The "wipe your smirk off your face" line was totally un-called for. And that finger-waggin' he does makes my skin crawl. He came across like an arrogant, big bully. And was Clinton drunk? He was kinda stumbling over his syllables.
  14. Clinton made some very good points, but his demeanor was totally un-presidential and, frankly, embarrassing. Clinton acted like a high-school kid in his defensive-ness. And I disagree that it was unscripted. Clinton has been waiting a long time to use the line "right-wing hit job" and to rip Fox. Too bad he picked Chris Wallace as his target. Fox is indeed very conservative, but Wallace is a fair and very good reporter. Clinton should have saved his Fox rant for O' Reilly....should he ever do an interview with him.
  15. Surprised there's no threads on this yet. My 2 thoughts: Clinton is very smart. Clinton is an a-hole.
  16. To me, he'll always be the guy that wrote and sang "Your Body is a Wonderland". I can never forgive him for that.
  17. My bad. (See....the memory got me so flustered I confused actresses).
  18. I just listened to Dylan's newest yesterday and today. I like it a lot. Nettie Moore is incredible. And something about "Workingman's Blues #2" reminds of the Fall Guy theme song....wierd. (That's not a bad thing....that show rocked. And it reminds of Locklear in a bikini.)
  19. I'm late on this also, but wondered if anyoned else likes the new Yo La Tengo? All over the place, but very enjoyable.
  20. It's a perfect storm for peaking the senses. The part that does it for me is when he sings, "In the beginning we closed our eyes. Whenever we kissed. We were surprised to. Find so much inside". This lyric takes to a special time. Innocence. Naivete. Then the music soars. Then a funky Beatles-esque horn part. It's great.
  21. I have almost all the Pavement records....except Wowee Zowee. Some say "Brighten..." is their best. Some say "Slanted". Some say "Wowee..." I'll make up my own mind when I pick up the re-issue. "Slanted..." is may fave so far.
  22. Wilco has a great track record for great openers. I look forward to seeing who Wilco picks to open a show.
