  1. Front row balcony at the Tabernacle is one of the best seats at any venue and you've got nothing to worry about. The ushers are great at keeping people out of the reserved seats that don't belong there. My concern is the opposite, people with not so great reserved seats overcrowding the floor.
  2. I'm pretty curious how the seating vs general admission thing is going to work at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. I haven't seen too many shows there with both reserved seats and a GA floor, 99% of the time the whole venue is GA or reserved. When I saw The Raconteurs there many years ago, anyone could go onto the GA floor but you had to have a wristband to get into the balconies. As a result, the upper balconies had tons of empty space and the floor was totally overcrowded. That was a long time ago, so I'm hoping that they'll be keeping folks with reserved seats off the floor these days but, I
  3. I really enjoyed the show last night. Ended up in GA and got there about 6:30 and was two people off the rail in between Oteil and John and had an incredible view. I'd heard enough YouTube performances of the slowed down Cold Rain & Snow so I was prepped for that, but the slower pace on Bertha really bummed me out. That's pretty much the only song I thought the tempo was an issue. One of my favorite parts of the night were the interplay between Jeff & John. They did this thing near the end (Morning Dew?) where John would do a little solo riff, then Jeff would mimic it on his organ
  4. So excited about the show tonight. Hoping for a Jack Straw and Me & My Uncle but I think they both got played at the last show so I'm not holding my breath.
  5. I originally bought a pair of tickets to the Atlanta show and planned to take my wife (a semi-fan). After thinking about the additional $$$ a babysitter would run me, I decided to sell our pair and try to find a cheap single. I've been checking Ticketmaster every few days and over the weekend a single GA popped up, so I grabbed it. $100 is steep for sure, but I justified it to myself. I'd kinda moved away from the Dead but after seeing Bob Weir open the Americanarama show a few years back (and reading these multiple GD threads religiously) I've been on a bit of a revival.
  6. I agree. Watched them both and was just blown away. Isbell is just on fire lately.
  7. Just got 2 for both nights in Atlanta using this link from twitter. http://wilcoworld.net/events/
  8. I just pulled a nice pair of seats to the Dead & Co. show in Atlanta, so I bit the bullet. Curious to see how the show plays out. Either way, I'm confident it will be a nice night out with my wife.
  9. Go for it. The taper sent the recording to a huge mailing list, so his intention seems to be to spread it far and wide. For those curious about lineage etc., this was shared as AIF files and I converted to FLAC for easier uploading, since I wanted to create my own link to share here and not send his link which may be tied to his personal identity in some way.
  10. This was in my inbox this morning. Huge thanks to the taper. http://we.tl/fYwsdV09tf
  11. I saw Smashing Pumpkins open for Drivin' N' Cryin' at the Roxy in Atlanta back in 93 or so and it blew my 16 year old mind. They were in town recording Siamese Dream and were just picking up sets wherever they could. I had only heard Drown off the Singles soundtrack at that time, but I instantly became a fan. Saw them 3-4 more times over the years, but never saw another show that amazing from them.
  12. Schedule is out and Wilco get a 1:10 set. Pretty disappointing to see The Avett Brothers, who I like, headlining over them and getting a full two hour set.
  13. There's no real way to respond to that post, but I wanted to let you know I read every word of it. This week will surely be better.
  14. My first concert was the dead in Atlanta in 1992. Sugar Magnolia closed the 2nd set and it was the first song I really knew that they'd played all night and I was blown away. Wish I could re-live all those dead shows I saw now that I know the catalog so much better.
  15. Beyond stoked. I've been to the first two years of this fest and it's always a blast. Was really hoping Wilco were going to be headlining after seeing the Florida and Texas dates a few weeks ago.
  16. I was pretty excited last week when Stern teased his upcoming appearance, but I'm guessing now the interview will be postponed or canceled.
  17. This show was beyond great. Really once in a lifetime stuff. Tornadoes Carl Perkins Cadillac Decoration Day Heathens Eyes Like Glue TVA Puttin People On The Moon Marry Me Goddamned Lonely Love My Sweet Annette Women Without Whiskey Outfit Daddy Needs A Drink Self Destructive Zones Cover Me Up The Living Bubba Space City Danko/Manuel Grand Canyon Cartoon Gold Alabama Pines Zip City Never Gonna Change Let There Be Rock Keep On Smiling I got to meet all three after the show and they were just as nice and gracious as could be, especially after just stepping off stage. Here's a few videos,
  18. Pretty stoked I was able to score a ticket to this. http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2014/05/jason-isbell-to-join-patterson-hood-and-mike-coole.html
  19. What did you think of the show? I was there, too, and thought it was fantastic. Great sound and stage show. Covering Radio Free Europe in the encore was pretty bad ass, as well.
  20. Pretty stoked to be seeing these guys at Shaky Knees in Atlanta in less than three weeks.
  21. First few times I heard Four Non-Blondes What's Up on the radio, I was sure it was new Concrete Blonde.
  22. Pretty sure I paid $275 via ebay for a pair of seats front row center to see My Morning Jacket at Chastain Amphitheater in Atlanta back in 2010. Worth every penny. My wife was eight months pregnant and it was great for her to be able to sit down for most of the show and still have an awesome view.
  23. On the new one, Cooley sings Shit Shots Count, Primer Coat, Made Up English Oceans, Hearing Jimmy Loud, Til He's Dead or Rises, Natural Light & First Air of Autumn. Patterson sings the others.
  24. Oh, that sucks. Sorry to get your hopes up but you do have to login. I saw that link on twitter and didn't realize you had to be a subscriber.
