  1. Very creative. That's the first time I've really had to think about where I rank SBS and I'm somewhat sad to say that after deliberation between it and AM, I went with SBS for last place. That's not to say I don't like it, but that I just like it least. If the MA albums were inlcuded, MA2 would be last overall.
  2. yeah, that's what i assume as well, i was just being a smartass.
  3. Two Dvds? Does that include the "Man in the Sand" DVD? What about the four Uncle Tupel lps, The Minus 5 - Down With Wilco lp, the 3 Golden Smog lps, the Chelsea Walls soundtrack, the 2 Loose Fur lps and Nels Cline's 800 releases? No, seriously, I'm just messing with you. I'm jealous that you're hearing all of that for the first time, but pace yourself a bit, you might burn yourself out.
  4. Of course Pearl Jam did that. I mean they were a dozen years into the career at that point. It's the type of things that bands a dozen years in do. Right?
  5. One of the worst has to be Sammy Hagar replacing DLR. It really bummed be out in the 5th grade, and actually still does.
  6. Just read that Icky debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts with 200,000 plus sales, second to Bon Jovi. That is a travesty. It's the WS highest chart yet.
  7. any total numbers sold updates? what about up to the minute AGIB info?
  8. Just got back home from the show, a five plus hous drive from richmond. Great mix of the old and new. Pat was upfront on third guitar about a third of the set, which was nice to see. great interplay during Impossible germany which was the standout SBS live track for me. must say, that after all i've read about shake it off being a monster live, that it was a let down for me. it was played very straight album style. nice to hear war on war, sunken treasure and even california stars, which i know i've heard at 80-90% of every wilco show that i've been to. One comment that many probably didn't he
  9. whoa, two BT tracks, nice to see some variety creeping in. I think I saw the roughly the same 22-25 songs ten times over on the AGIB tours. How about a bone or two from AM? I think al lot of the songs from AM would work really well with an SBS heavy setlist.
  10. Four weeks in the top 50 is pretty strong. what's the total sold number up to?
  11. it should've been saved for SBS, it's better than 90% of the album.
  12. Considering I'm one of the 8 people out there who didn't listen until it was officially released, this is my first post in this thread. I've listened to SBS at home late at night on vinyl, in my car while driving through the mountains of West Virginia, while jogging on IPOD, while at work, in a large variety of settings. I have probably listened 20 times through, but have already gone some days without listening to it, a problem I've never had this early on after previous albums. I genuinely like most all of the songs, save for On&On&On, but am catching myself let down by the overall
  13. I'm sure to some of you this is very, very old news, but I just saw it for the first time today and thought it might be a good reference point for relative newcomers who want to explore Tweedy's very early roots, including UT and many random contributions. The site says last updated in 1996, but it does a very thorough job of compiling all kinds of Tweedy production credits, co-songwriting credits, et, up to that point. Lots of interesting notes. Enjoy. http://www.postcardfromhell.com/postcard-d...php#briefothera
  14. Hey Paul, jealous Greg back in Virginia here. Tell those of us who have yet to witness it what "Shake it Off" sounds like live. Jeff said in an interview that it was gonna be a monster live or some such thing. Well, do tell. Hopefulltysee you for some of the East coast dates.
  15. As someone who was reared in the punk community close to twenty years ago, let me say that what you're accusing Wilco of is ridiculous. This isn't akin to Jawbreaker signing to a major after years of publicly bashing them or Chumbawumba, an anarchist collective first and band second, writing a pop hit about drinking adventures. Wilco/ Tweedy has been on a major for thirteen or fourteen years, tickets are sold through ticketmaster, they appear on shows like Leno and Conan and Letterman. I don't see where they've ever explicitly stated that they wouldn't do something like this. Sooner or later i
  16. I DON'T WANNA GO BACK TO MY OLD WAYS AGAIN very well done, makes me wish I had seen 'em more than once on the recent tour.
  17. Dr Dog Wed May 23, 2007 Late Night With David Letterman Should be fun, here's hoping for "Alaska."
  18. But The Stones, Hendrix, Lou Reed, Johnny Thunders, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday and hundreds of others all hit their career peaks while smashed out their minds. I do think it was a mean-spirited quote, but one that may prove to be true in the long haul.
  19. Firstly, I, like everyone else was very impressed with the what was on the DVD, the live jam sessions, the interviews, Jeff's great story on SBS and Belleville, But here's what puzzles me. For the past few months we've read mountains of press about how collaborative and collective this whole record was, the sitting around in a circle, etc, etc. Why is it then that Jeff dominates nearly all of the interview footage? You barely see Pat in the film and all of the interviews with the other guys are very short, quick thoughts. I mean we did just get a full-length Jeff solo dvd a few months back. Cu
  20. That was more insightful and interesting than any direct band related press i've seen for SBS.
  21. I just found this. Looks like what I'm talking about is an import 7" that won't be released until next month. http://www.musicdirect.com/products/detail.asp?sku=LIW001
  22. okay, so what's the ep with what light and let's not get carried away then?
  23. So, I was at the local indie store at 10 am this morning and was the first person to pick up SBS, they even told me such. But when I inquired about the limited ep, they said they had none. They're trying to special order one for me, but said they weren't sure they'd be able to get it. Anyone have any luck picking one up today? Watching the dvd now, great story Jeff tells about the parade in Belleville in regards to the title track.
  24. Saw my second Dog show in a month last night in Charlottesville and holy shit are they ever good live. It was a very intimate (read small) venue that perhaps 100 people showed up to. I met folks from all over Virginia, some who had driven four plus hours. They played for about an hour and fifteen minutes, a good cross swath of "We All Belong" and "Easy Beat," along with a couple of the earlier demo songs. Their live show is fun as hell and high energy throughout, with all five members not only playing their asses off, but fully into the showmanship as well. Most every song is superior live to
