  1. My voice is halfway shot for sure, minor throat irritant.
  2. Andrew took some of those warming circle pics, but I'm not sure he's obsessively on here, or for sure even at all, but he sure is a swell guy.
  3. Does he ever sing songs that are more explicitly Exene's vocal tracks? There are dozens of X songs I'd want to hear, but "This is the New World," comes to immediate mind. Damn I'm jealous.
  4. Both were filmed in Marfa, Texas, a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere. I've seen 'em both and like them both quite a bit. I'm slightly partial to "Blood," though the ending that many find brilliant is maddening to me.
  5. Maybe they could drop them on the Lost island Kim, then you could combine your two favorite passions.
  6. I don't see where VH1 finds the time for Wilco between all of their top notch music-based reality shows.
  7. At the very end as the song was ending Jeff said that's all we've got, we're done, or something of the sort. Very Similar to the piano being slammed on the BT version and the "That's it." My favorite album closer by far, though I still don't know half of the words or what the fuck he's singing about.
  8. Anyone know any specifics about a possible Wilco VH1 story or segment. It was confirmed by a couple of people that Jeff and John were being interviewed on the stage pre-show one day at the Riv. They also shot some live footage apparently. I tried the VH1 site, but I'll I could find was lots of garbage about Bret Michaels.
  9. I met Pat one night at the bar after the show. I talked to him briefly and told him they were on fire all week. He was very modest.
  10. That's pretty funny Louie. I drove through a vicious ice storm between Indianapolis and Louisville, total whiteout in places and quite a few wrecks. It was actually worse weather than anything I saw in Chicago all week, if that's at all possible.
  11. I think its great that Wilco is taking such a seminal punk hero out on the road with them, as opposed to a young, up and coming band or artist. There are plenty of UT moments that I think of X. It should be a great opening set.
  12. Now that's a good question. Perhaps there's still some longer period of time than we think before they're off the island. Or more likely it has to do with the island's time being totally skewed from the rest of the world. Do any of you Lost fans like the movie Donnie Darko? If you haven't seen it, it's all about parallel universes and time travel and is a brilliant comedy all at the same time, highly recommended. It too has an obsessed fan base, and several totally insane theory/debate websites.
  13. You do know of The Band though right? If not, we've got to have an intervention, and quick. Just about as seminal as it gets. You do know of The Band though right? If not, we've got to have an intervention, and quick. Just about as seminal as it gets.
  14. Fugazi is the best of them all IMHO.
  15. What about Levon Helm from the band? Louisville, Kentucky: My Morning Jacket Freakwater Kinghorse Slint Squirrel Bait Endpoint Crain Rodan Out. Will Oldham (all variations) rest of state: Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, 9LB Hammer
  16. A new friend who had the chance to talk to John after one of the shows this week told me that John felt sad by how things have turned out for Jay, that his producing work and solo career haven't really taken off.
  17. Alright, I'll turn around in the morning and come back up.
  18. my favorite was last night when he said that we'd do this all again next year on two occasions.
  19. The band was on total fire all week and ultimately this run is going to benefit fans everywhere, as the whole catalog should theoretically be up for grabs on any given night. I would do another residency no doubt, I just hope its above single digits next time. Also their are plenty of folks who were at all five shows who will also be in Philly, Cleveland, DC, etc.
  20. I'm almost embaressed by how often I see myself in these, but more importantly I see about 20 great new friends. It's truly gonna be sad when this is all over. I'll be sitting in the suburbs of Louisville with my family tomorrow night. That's gonna be depressing. Post-Wilco Stress Disorder for sure.
  21. Actual cameras I'm not sure, but if you have a camera phone, you'll be fine.
  22. I have the same problem with the Replacements that I have with Dylan, the Band, the Clash, Kiss and lots of other favorites, that being that I own every friggin Replacements album on vinyl. Buying them all on cd would cost a small fortune. But it does kill me that "Let it Be," is all I have on my Ipod. Also as long as we're talking opinions here, "Johnny's Gonna Die" is my all time favorite track. Nice to meet you Brad, I'm sure you're looking at this.
  23. Fat Cats. It's about two blocks north of the RIV on the left, at a corner. Seriously, there were over 20 VCers there last night. Come on out. Bingo!
  24. I think we've all met now right? It sure feels that way after this week. I think I need to get a pen and paper and match people's real names to screen names, because having to remember two names for every person sure is hard.
  25. It's a shame, Levon didn't jam with Dr. Dog, especially on "Alaska," which is the best Band sounding song I think I've ever heard. Sounds like a great, great time. I've gotta catch one of those barn shows some day.
