  1. Beatles - (there I said it - this may be because my 4 year old has been singing Yellow Submarine non-stop for the past week)
  2. I think my first cd was already cracked before I even tried to take it out, because I remember all the back lash when it it first released and I didn't have the to opportunity to take it out, carefully. I haven't listened to it in a while.
  3. First one was - returned it- second one is fine.
  4. By way of the Hoffman board GD Facebook page (it's from the comment section)
  5. Yeah, I don't have a record player (though I have been saying for the last 10 years or so that I am getting one) - but the set does look great. Vinyl prices are ridiculous, though. I wonder what else MG has ---- I also wonder how she is able to release Grateful Dead stuff, and not Rhino. I realize she probably 'owns' the masters, but I would think she would need the Dead/Rhino's blessing for release, but I don't see this on Dead.net at all, at least not yet. Perhaps because the show was billed as the below, explains the release.
  6. Neil always seems to be a crank, crank on Farm Aid day, which never takes away from his performances.
  7. That is a great shot - I went to bed at the end of the 7th. Surprised as hell, this a.m. Great effort by Hunter.
  8. I saw it during the Bears/Giant game this past Thursday. It was the first the time that my wife saw it, she enjoyed it.
  9. Do we know that the law doesn't work, yet ---- the website at times, sure, but the actual law? I know a lot of anti-Obama Southern Illinoisans (both parents and young adults) already taking advantage of the under 26 year old people staying on the parent's policy. I think we need to wait to see if the rest of the law doesn't work.
  10. Dave's Pick #8 is already sold out --- must have been one the the quicker sell outs, from what I can remember.
  11. I was lucky enough to hear him play it solo a few times before it came out on Summerteeth - so I have always have been partial to his solo arrangement --- I do enjoy the full band version, though I agree at times it seems forced, as choo-choo stated. The stage lights are always great during the tune.
  12. Yeah - the first couple View from the Vaults had the direct video screen feeds --- while at the shows the screens, at times, could be interesting - not so much when watching it on the television at home.
  13. Below is a video piece about: http://tv.suntimes.com/video/chicago-reader-space/space-pieholden
  14. Listening to the 5/9/77 Pink Floyd show now --- Animals is indeed a killer record.
  15. Help out with some of the health care for their own employees, rather then us taxpayers/insureds, would be nice. Perhaps if they and all the other huge companies did, perhaps we wouldn't need the ACA. If some doctors didn't legally abuse Social Security, perhaps we wouldn't need ACA. If insurance companies didn't end insurance on people who became sick or didn't offer it to people who were 'likely' to become sick, perhaps we wouldn't need the ACA. All the above do these actions to make money for themselves and their shareholders --- which of course is legal, right, and 'just' --- and all
  16. Me too - Hixter's picture just looked like a bowl of meat (it does look good, but doesn't look like 'chili') Is it even possible to make a veggie 'Texas-style chili'. Not sure what you would use as meat substitute. I or my wife uses TVP in our chili --- but I use beans and tomatoes, etc....
  17. Speaking of getting through book - I have read every Dostoyevsky novel over the years, with the exception of The Brothers Karamazov - I must have started it 5 times over the last 20 years and haven't gotten passed page 100 or so ---- one of these days I am going to get through the mother. I have read my share of Hemingway, too - but never gotten around to The Old Man and the Sea.
  18. I am interested how Norman will handle the audience recording. For the most part I think Norman has done a good job, so hopefully he utilizes the audience recording, accordingly. I, for the most part, avoid matrix recordings that I come across, because I listened to some that were not done well --- I am hoping Norman does a good job. The concept of a matrix is fine with me.
  19. I believe the Clark bit is from the Vacation (Chevy Chase) movies --- with regards to if you believe in capitalism -- the market will correct itself soon enough.
  20. I'm good with 8 - interesting that they are using an audience recording, too, with the board tape.
  21. Hunter sat in on Buddy Miller & Jim Lauderdale's XM radio show this past week. Hunter and Lauderdale write together -- it was a pleasant 2 hour show. Hunter played the way he originally wrote Black Peter's melody with his words ---- it was a "happy song about a person dying", which of course Jerry change into a "slow, sad song about a person dying"---- thank god, because Hunter's original pretty much sucked. The original China Cat melody wasn't too good, either --- of course he praised Garcia for his song/melody writing ability.
  22. I'm guessing Casal didn't play it. The show is up on the archive. http://archive.org/details/furthur2013-10-05.mk41_flac24
  23. That Saturday (10/5) show looks great - looks like Neal Casal and Jonathon Wilson (separately) sat in -- probably will grab it if it pops up somewhere. Would you know if Casal played the Wolf guitar, by chance?
  24. Not sure if the below was posted before -- nice, long interview with Hunter --- it would be fun to watch a Nine Inch Nails concert with Hunter. http://itrandomtime.blogspot.com/2013/09/an-interview-with-robert-hunter.html?spref=fb
