  1. It should be interesting how AJ and Ryan get along; I think Washington and AJ will be just fine. I was a fan of AJ, so I think it was a good pick up for the Rangers. The White Sox are stuck with Flowers....
  2. Yeah his drums do sound a bit "thin" (for the lack of a better word) in the mix. I only saw them play once, last summer, and I think I remember feeling that way after the show (which I thought was great, overall). But on the webcast, he was entertaining to watch.
  3. At times I wanna say, "I get it, David - it's one of the best ever" It's a bit of bummer that Blair Jackson is going to stop writing his blog post over at Dead.net - it usually was an interesting read.
  4. That has always been one of favorites, too.
  5. That Mike Love bit was a good one - I think Dylan's comment the same night was equally funny/good --- "I'd like to thank Mike Love for not mentioning me."
  6. I caught most of the 1st set and a little of the 2nd - it was pretty damn good - it was fun watching Russo playing the drums. The quality of the feed and production was very good, too.
  7. I enjoyed that Bobby sticker - I was one of those Bobby fans who got flack from my friends because I was always sticking up for him. When I start listening to the Dead (86-87), I made an all Bobby mix tape and always listened to it. I was a teenager at the time, so I guess his more rocking songs suited me better at the time.
  8. I did, she definitely held her own. I guess she will be in front of the House this afternoon. The aftermath of the Benghazi indecent was indeed poorly played out by the President's camp. I think it turned into political theater afterwards, but that's they way it goes these days.
  9. Never had a car of my owned until 97, so I never bothered with bumper stickers. In the Chicago area, the below shirt was quite popular. I bought a red one and gave it to a friend.
  10. I am not sure if it's sad or not, but my knowledge of Dowd is his involvement with The Not Ready for Naptime Players. Gotta love parenthood. Probably won't be able to make it up there for the gig - sounds like it should be fun, though.
  11. Kelly Hogan is playing a gig at the Green Mill (Chicago) - interesting booking for the Green Mill. http://greenmilljazz.com/events/9pm-an-evening-with-kelly-hogan/
  12. http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=168805385&m=168809014 Shenandoah - Tom Waits with Keith Richards. I think it sounds great - great production.. Keith's singing is pretty good - it was mixed well.
  13. The wife and I are in the same spot as you - great, great show. It hard trying to avoid information regarding the later seasons.
  14. I would agree with Some Girls, Disintegration, and Blood on the Tracks . Add: John Wesley Harding Two live one's: Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! Allman Brother's Fillmore
  15. I guess I never did either - I am just glad the exit seems amical. I wonder if Luther will be one of the quests in Nashville.
  16. http://www.jambands.com/news/2013/01/08/black-crowes-to-play-special-acoustic-show-at-the-ryman/ The acoustic show sounds like it may interesting. I caught one of there shows in 2010 in Chicago, when they played one acoustic set and one electric set - there acoustic performance was great. Last night I listened to their 8/27/10 The Pageant, St. Louis, MO show again --- great, great show/recording. Also it's kinda cool, that it appears that the departure of Luther was a mutual decision....
  17. Today' his birthday, too - 66 years old....
  18. No leak. The news of a new record is cool. Sorry about that.
  19. The new record is cool, didn't think there would be one.
  20. I enjoy Billy/Mickey up to 70 a lot, but solo Billy is probably my favorite.
  21. No - no I didn't. I don't think the wife would have been up for it - plus it would be awkward draggin our 6 month old daughter. Another one I forgot was Furthur at the Charter One Pavilion in Chicago - great place to see a show right on the Lake, with the city in the background. Great, fun crowd/scene. Definitely the best Dead related show that I saw since 95.
