  1. I only caught the last two songs of Holy Sons in Chicago - they did sound good. The bass player played lap steel a few songs during the Jicks set in Chicago - did he do that in Boston. It sounded pretty good in the mix.
  2. I think it's going to be a great game tonight at Northwestern - I am suspecting an upset. Just wish I had the Big Ten Network... Well, this is why I don't gamble.
  3. Great show last night - they did play "Real Emotional Trash". The new drummer was decent, nice stage presence - he sang Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)then they went into Benny and the Jets for the encore - sloppy as all hell, but fun. Must admit I'm kinda sweet on Joanna Bolme. She's a hoot to watch.
  4. Well that's interesting - now I wonder who they are going to get - if anybody.
  5. It's interesting that they did not mention the Vic and Riv. shows which are after the Civic Opera House show. I am guessing he will do those shows, too.
  6. I was kinda hoping for Dave Martinez, he seemed like a good choice. Ventura was one of my favorite Sox players, so he has that going for him, but someone without any Sox ties might of been a better choice - he definitely is going to be the polar opposite of Ozzie, but I think anyone would of. Hopefully Ventura works out.
  7. Tribune states: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/chi-sox-name-ventura-to-succeed-guillen-as-manager-20111006,0,2120262.story Well this should be interesting. I don't even remember seeing his name being batted around.
  8. I did check Hyde Park Records today - no luck.
  9. Dombey and Son has been on my "to read list" for a very long time.
  10. So far the consensus on the Hoffman board is that the 2011 remaster are an improvement over the 1994 ones - not that really means anything, though.
  11. Not really sure what you mean by "straight forward remastering", but it is a new remaster or different than previous ones.
  12. I don't think so - but I am far from an expert.
  13. I picked up WIsh You Were Here and Animals on Cd - they both sound good.
  14. Tortoise was a great opener those two shows.
  15. By way of my brother I have that one too - his wife made him get rid of it when their daughters reached 4 and 6. I was going to start a bit of debate with her about parenting, but I just decided to accept it.
  16. From today's Sun-Times: http://www.suntimes.com/8033118-417/chicago-area-expected-to-endure-worst-winter-weather-in-nation.html But still, don't let that deter you from coming to the show.
  17. This kinda reminds me when Dylan played the Aragon, Riviera, Vic, then the Park West over four nights in 2004. Of course he did it in March (when it was warm).
  18. Going to see him this Thursday in Chicago. I like the new one, but I think I like Real Emotional Trash better. They changed the venue for Thursday's show from the Vic to the Metro. I always assume there is a venue change due to lack of ticket sales (the Metro is a bit smaller than the Vic), but I could be wrong about that. Of course, the Metro show is not sold out yet.
  19. Another show just announced on XRT. Dec. 15th -Tickets on sale this Sat.
  20. Enjoying the 99 show - always loved Can't Stand It from this line-up/time period.
  21. So is that considered a Carl solo album or a Beach Boy record? Also noticed that Blondie Chaplin was on this album - didn't realize he was part of the Beach Boys for a bit. Forget it I see it is a Beach Boy record
