  1. Yeah, I tried tuning in last night but I couldn't get the stream. I'll try remember to bump it. Can't you guys be online while you do the show or does she tape the show, then the station puts it up?
  2. Definitely one of the cooler things I read about in a while. It's great that it is free, too. It would be nice to have him bring it on the road, but I assume the would bring expense, thus eliminating the free status. I would gladly spend money to looking through the stuff, though. Perhaps this will start a trend with other artist.

  4. Fine by shed standards. Better than the place outside Chicago, at least (though that is not saying much). Saw them play there when the opened for REM 'in 99(?). That was great show. I'm assuming Nudie suits all around, for Farm Aid.
  5. Was shut out the first pre-sale, but I was able to snag a GA ticket through Ticketmaster. Very happy.
  6. Caught a few songs, one of the them was "The Mob Rules". I thought it was good, too and I just read they are playing in Chicago on my birthday. I never seen a "true" metal show before, so perhaps this may be a nice first.
  7. I'm don't have any suggestions, but you may find some here: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/35877-going-to-chicagowhat-to-do-see-stay-etc/
  8. I would make the same decision. I love Dylan, but his shows(now-a-days) are "oh-hum" compared to Wilco.
  9. We caught the show in Sauget, IL. earlier this month. Was a good time. First time I went to one of the baseball stadium shows - I liked the relaxed nature of it. Pretty diverse crowd. I thought they all played well and would recommend the show.
  10. [quote name='jc4prez' date='10 July 2009 - 12:02 PM' timestamp='1247245341' post='1346682' Also if anyone can recommend some 69 and 72 shows id appreciate it. Two I listened to recently(perhaps you may have already heard these shows, but): 2.18.71 - Lots of first time played songs - Bertha, Greatest Story, Johnny B Good, Wharf Rat, Loser. 9.20.70 - Great acoustic set. 2nd set is steller too. Both have great write up's in the Taper C. book.
  11. I know. I was poking fun at the poster in the other forum. Poor attempt at humor on my part. I have a copy of Roots, however I have not listened to in quite some time. Planning to listened to it today.
  12. I'm thinking their records companies may have some input on the release dates of their records. From (Jay Farrar interview) : http://www.denverpost.com/headlines/ci_12764297

  14. Yeah I hear you, but I was thinking of the Residency shows. You are right, southern summer's are brutal and I only experienced Southern Illinoisan' summers, which are bad enough. I used to be bad at getting to shows early and being the only there for awhile. A few times my wife was with me. Now every time I want to get to a show early, she reminds me of those times. (Plus she's is usually right)
  15. Were you singing The Lonely One to yourself. At least during the summer it's easier waiting in line or at least more comfortable.
  16. link regarding GBT http://www.punkhart.com/dylan/reviews/basement_tapes.html link regarding TWR http://theband.hiof.no/albums/boot_tree_with_roots.html from the TWR link. I think TWR may just be an upgrade.
  17. According to http://sonvolt.wordpress.com/ they played Grindstone, which would have been nice to see. That March album reminds me of this latest one. Perhaps it just because Jay's acoustic playing, though. Though some of the songs, like Sultana might have fit on March. But you are right, I wouldn't expect much Tupelo.
  18. After one listen, I like it quite a bit. Lyrically there are some cheesy lines, though. I did not read the Pitchfork review before listening to the disc, but afterward I read it and all the negative things the reviewer wrote, happen to be all the reasons I like the disc. To each their own, I guess. Especially the production and mix.
  19. Saw Mellencamp last week with Dylan and Nelson in Sauget, Illinois. Last time I saw him was back in 87 or 88. He still puts on a great show. He opened up with Pink Houses, which I thought was kinda of cool. He had a solid band backing him. Picked up the Son Volt disc today; haven't had a chance to listened to it yet, though. I am bit disappointed that lyrics were not included.
  20. Saw them in Chicago, last Sunday. Just got into them over last year or so, so I don't have much perspective, but I thought the show was great. Below is a blog about the Chicago Show --- I found it posted on the Sonic Youth board. Has a few vid's and the set list. http://carvedsukk4honesty.blogspot.com/2009/06/sonic-youth-night-two-unity-is-not.html
  21. Definitely agree about the guitar solo at the 3:40 mark. I like the bass run at the end, too. Good tune. Thanks for the link.
