  1. Were you singing The Lonely One to yourself. At least during the summer it's easier waiting in line or at least more comfortable.
  2. link regarding GBT http://www.punkhart.com/dylan/reviews/basement_tapes.html link regarding TWR http://theband.hiof.no/albums/boot_tree_with_roots.html from the TWR link. I think TWR may just be an upgrade.
  3. According to http://sonvolt.wordpress.com/ they played Grindstone, which would have been nice to see. That March album reminds me of this latest one. Perhaps it just because Jay's acoustic playing, though. Though some of the songs, like Sultana might have fit on March. But you are right, I wouldn't expect much Tupelo.
  4. After one listen, I like it quite a bit. Lyrically there are some cheesy lines, though. I did not read the Pitchfork review before listening to the disc, but afterward I read it and all the negative things the reviewer wrote, happen to be all the reasons I like the disc. To each their own, I guess. Especially the production and mix.
  5. Saw Mellencamp last week with Dylan and Nelson in Sauget, Illinois. Last time I saw him was back in 87 or 88. He still puts on a great show. He opened up with Pink Houses, which I thought was kinda of cool. He had a solid band backing him. Picked up the Son Volt disc today; haven't had a chance to listened to it yet, though. I am bit disappointed that lyrics were not included.
  6. Saw them in Chicago, last Sunday. Just got into them over last year or so, so I don't have much perspective, but I thought the show was great. Below is a blog about the Chicago Show --- I found it posted on the Sonic Youth board. Has a few vid's and the set list. http://carvedsukk4honesty.blogspot.com/2009/06/sonic-youth-night-two-unity-is-not.html
  7. Definitely agree about the guitar solo at the 3:40 mark. I like the bass run at the end, too. Good tune. Thanks for the link.
  8. I noticed this on a Stones board this morning. Neil Young & Paul McCartney A Day In The Life Hyde Park, June 27,2009 Pretty great/interesting performance. Would have been nice to have seen it live.
  9. Yeah, Wheel was played every hour on XRT when it came out. (not that I'm complaining - well maybe a little --- "There's plenty of other songs on the album, damnit")
  10. I don't think MTV played that video 50 times though, like Butt-Head said. Though I could be wrong. I don't remember seeing it much, though.
  11. Updated from Chicagoist. Tickets on sale today. http://chicagoist.com/2009/06/21/jeff_tweedy_wrangles_up_a_benefit_s.php
  12. Noticed this today on Chicagoist: http://chicagoist.com/2009/06/21/jeff_tweedy_wrangles_up_a_benefit_s.php
  13. He seemed harmless. (annoying yes.)
  14. Yeah, I was kinda waiting for the guy to fall into the table (a la Farley).
  15. That's great. I see nothing wrong with that. Gotta love Dio, the first one to reach out his hand. I think you posted the video of Dio talking about the fans, this video documents it pretty well.
  16. That's a bummer, MB. Thanks for the review. Gotta love those Midwest outdoor early summer shed shows. The weather always a factor. I'm glad you enjoyed what you saw of the show and the scene. I always liked Moma Dance. Split too.
  17. http://midcenturyspace.blogspot.com/ This person had it on a blog (midway down). It seems that it is sold, perhaps the person knows of another source. edit: I just notice it was a moving sale, so perhaps the person will not know of another source.
  18. It seems like every show thus far this tour has been augmented, due to time. Perhaps they can start a bit earlier. Damn curfews.
  19. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/15/arts/music/15virgin.html?_r=1 (found the link on Ken Vandermark's site) It looks the Virgin Mega store in Union Square officially closed. I don't think I ever bought anything at a Virgin store. I bought The Complete Miles Davis At Montreux at some chain store that was located on Wabash (under the El) in Chicago. I think it might have been a Virgin...now this is bugging me, Louie(or anyone) do which store I am talking about, it has since closed. edit: It was a Tower on Wabash, not a Virgin. Still, I think that was the only time I purchased something at
  20. That's Springsteen impression is great, I think he just needed a Telecaster to make it more so.
  21. It looks like it will include the 6/18 Eyes and jam out of 01. They are really getting these Road Trips out pretty fast and furious.
  22. http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=73467 Someone posted the video of their 6.12.09 show over at the Traders Den. The youtube clip looks pretty good.
