Thanks for link -- friends saw him this past Saturday in Chicago and raved about it --- watching it, I can see why. Wish I would have went.

Beltman posted the below trailer in the 'Wilco heard while you're out and about' -- might as well put it here --- looking forward to seeing it. https://youtu.be/M4lzoQKIF8E

Witness my first D&D game/adventure, today --- my 8 year old played with a few of his friends -the other two fathers played when they were younger and one was the Dungeon Master. He was using a few Dungeon 87 edition magazines as guides. It was pretty interesting. My kid entered the adventure midway - he's a wizard. The adventure will continue...

Yeah --- the dude was just hanging out after he caught it checking his phone ---- I was thinking he may want to duck away for a while - but I guess the fans in Pittsburgh are nice. It was a great catch and clear (to me at least) that the ball was over the line. I just found it funny that Rizzo was involved with another replay.
-
No -- Contreras (Cub's Catcher) got hit twice, though. The 2nd time, the pitcher was definitely having issues, though. Didn't see the 1st time. Rizzo was involved in another review, though. He hit home run to the upper deck and a fan caught it at the railing (a nice catch by-the-way). They had to review it to determine if he caught it above the yellow line. The fan happen to be a Cub's fan, too (at least he had a Cub's jersey on -- they were playing in Pitt)

Now MLB comes back and says Rizzo slide was definitely illegal. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-reportedly-admits-anthony-rizzos-controversial-slide-vs-the-pirates-should-have-been-called-illegal/
-
With the Posey rule change - it was probably was illegal. But even after review, they deemed it legal - so who knows.
-
The Cubs should expect to get popped and be completely fine with it. Rizzo is used to getting hit, anyway.
-
What do you think of Rizzo's slide -- I thought it was fine -- Rizzo definitely tried to take the catcher out, though - but he stayed in the base line and went for the bag. https://www.mlb.com/news/anthony-rizzo-slide-stirs-cubs-pirates-debate/c-278692024

I have had the new JGB Hilo cd on hold at my library since it was released - looking forward to listening. Some libraries in my system have a policy of not sharing new releases and the one library that has it is one of them - it shows it's available to check out, too - I blame Trumpism.

The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
calvino replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
At first I thought maybe his Google Alerts hasn't been going this crazy in a long while - then I saw that he has a EP coming out with Scarlet Johansson - so things can't be going too bad for him, if he gets to hang with her. -

Man - that Pete Yorn name keeps popping up on Via Chicago.... -
Have you ever been to a concert that made you lose interest in a band?
calvino replied to jff's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah - I pass when Dylan plays an arena or a large venue -- his voice gets lost easily. Though I did see a couple of minor league ball park shows where it sounded pretty great on the field. -

I guess the Stones would be one -- haven't paid for ticket in 20 years or so. With the extremely stale set lists and ticket costs, it is not worth it. Since 2007 or so, I always say I am done with Dylan - not because of a particular bad show or anything, but more because the shows started to sound the same musically. But I have probably have seen him 6 times, since. Though the last time was in Nov, 2014. I think this gap is my longest, dating back to 97, so maybe I am really done. -
The wife and I watched Mulaney's Comeback Kid special and enjoyed it - need to watch the new one. Presently we are 3 episodes into Season 1 of Handmaid's Tale --- I have never read the book, but the show is interesting. At times I do find myself laughing at the absurdity of it all, in which my wife (who has read the book) is always ready to rebuke me. Elisabeth Moss is definitely great. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I have no idea --- I pretty sure he is still over in Japan -- but I can be wrong about that.

They should have planned to move the whole operation to Finland for the spring/summer. I am sure they could have found recording studio there. O'Rourke could have left Japan for a while to help engineer/produce. Could have came up with a nifty Finland-related record title, too.
-
Got it - makes sense, now. It seems like a great, perfect time to leave the country for a while - lucky him!

Is Glenn in exile in Finland for the summer?

The Life & Songs of Emmylou Harris: An All-Star Concert Celebration! on AXS.tv is well worth searching out -- lot's of great performances. Don Was is getting pretty good at these things. I can watch Kris Kristofferson sing all day long. Wish they would have listed who the performers were as they got onstage ---- must admit, don't have a clue who many of these people are. Whatever duo sang/played Michelangelo was unbelievable.

We watched the Three Billboards movie last night - it was a great one. Well written/ great characters / great acting. One of the better movies I have seen in a long while.

He is playing the Auditorium Theater in Chicago. Cheap seats are priced right at $30 -- but those seats are so high up, it like you are on top of Sears Tower looking down. I sat up there for a Wilco show - man they never looked so small. The sound was bad, too.

Wow - that hasn't even happen to me managing little league, yet. Guessing one person gave the umpire the wrong line up.

Ezra -- always wanted to name my kid Ezra Myshkin ( one of my favorite literary characters - Dostoevsky's The Idiot) - but my wife nixed the middle name. Our other kid is named Zelda, another flawed person, but influential in the literary world. I guess, that what happens to some kids when they have liberal art majors for p's.

Oscar Wao is wonderful book. I didn't hear about Diaz, until I read your post. My wife and I were just talking about art/artists, yesterday - mostly due to the idiotic things Kanye West was saying. We concluded, that all humans are flawed (some way more than others). I have always able been able to separate the artist and their art. Though, I have never defended any artist who has said or did some stupid or criminal shit, because he or she was a great artist. Hell - we named our kid after a fascist, anti-Semite poet who was arrested for treason and committed to an institution. He wrot
