Well the tax code probably could use a few bullet holes shot through it --- I do understand your whole point about pandering to the gun-owning-tax-hating people and I do see it as such, too - but that's politics. Like I said, I havn't read much into Paul's tax ideas.

Regarding last night debate - I thought Rand Paul was alright - at least he doesn't want to invade every country on the earth. He has a sound drug policy, too --- maybe tax policy, too - but I haven't gotten too involved on Paul's tax stance.

Can We List The Albums Best To Worst Including Uncle Tupelo Releases?
calvino replied to Uncle Skujelo's topic in Just A Fan
First I would get Being There --- then with Uncle Tupelo - I would start with No Depression and go down the line -- all are great. Still Feel Gone is my favorite. -
I saw that this morning - my sister who was big REO fan in the 70's/80's, happen to be in town last night -- I didn't see the news until this morning, though. I still listen to them from time to time -- they remind me of my youth and listening to stereo with my sisters during the 70s - they are about 10 years older then me - so it was always a hoot.

Regarding the Dead & Company shows, I may go see a show in St. Louis. I guess it depends on the ticket prices - not keen at seeing them in a hockey rink, though. I was suppose to go see Ratdog with my St. Louis friend, back when Weir canceled the tour -- it was going to his first time seeing any actual GD member play before - so he was pretty bummed on the cancellation. This will make up for the lost Ratdog show, I guess. On paper the band looks fine -- not a big Mayer fan - but he should make thing interesting, hopefully. I am excited to hear what Oteil may bring to the table, too.

That's a good one. He has put down the Dead in the past, too. Like Rap, Sgt. Pepper/Satanic, etc. before it. None of this is new news - i guess he is re-spewing this stuff to publicize the new record. He does sound like an very old curmudgeon, though. When he was saying this stuff 20 years ago he just sounded like an old curmudgeon. Would be cool if played a theater show in Chicago with the Wino's (and it doesn't cost an arm and leg).

That 12/28/72 is a Garcia/Saunders show -- I had to look it up. http://jerrygarcia.com/show/1972-12-28-lions-share-san-anselmo-ca/ My go to Dead setlist page is Deadlists - mostly because it has recording info. http://www.deadlists.com/default.asp

Haven't gotten around to watch it - but below is the encore, from the HD feed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jg7no9SliY

Yeah - that's what I paid for it. It made the kid's day when I showed it to him -- my mom happen to be over at my house when I got home and showed the CD to my kid - my mom didn't approve of it -- just like she really didn't approve of it when I bought Maiden when I was in grade school -- though she never did forbid it.

Best Buy did have deluxe copy --- it's similar packaging to the Faces box set - which is a bit of a bummer. Read that people don't like Shirley's past productions - I'll give it listen tonight or tomorrow. Still kick out the Eddie images.

Think I going to buy the new Iron Maiden release today - the last release I bought of theirs was Somewhere In Time. I was going to wait for my library system to get it in, but when I told that to my kid - he seemed genuinely bummed. I have in-laws visiting this weekend, celebrating my niece's 21st b-day -- so the kids and I will have the house to ourselves for the most part - what better way to spend it then blasting Iron Maiden with a 3 and 6 year old....

How do you listen to your music during the day?
calvino replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah - i never had a MP3 player and ripping stuff to MP3's doesn't appeal to me much , which is why my thumb drive I bought for my car is still in its package. I do like the evolution of hard drives and stereos, though. It does make things easier when you rip something into .wav or .flac and I definitely take advantage of having a great library system in my area and ripping lots of CD's. -
I think Furthur or some Dead offshoot group did this last year at a resort that wasn't really completely built yet...it was a bit of a disaster. As per usual the FAQs were funny.

Work --- Archive.org (Grateful Dead) or Spotify through very shitty computer speaker. Car --- Radio/XM/Cd's --- my car has a USB port and I did buy a thumb drive, months ago - but haven't gotten around to dumping any music on it. At home, if in kitchen or outside - My Mac or a Bose SoundLink Speaker III -- my wife got the Bose speaker with "credit card points" of some sort - never would have bought it - but I am glad she got it, because it does sound pretty great for casual listening. Living room - my main system. I a capable of hooking up a hard drive to my OPPO cd/dvd player - which grea -
One couldn't keep the cd's in the actual box set in the last one and now this. Hopefully a library in my system orders it - thus far, none have.

Regarding Sittin - I thought they did perform in Europe in 72, though I had to check and they did --- it seems that the left the tune there, though --- never played it again once they got back. Great tune. from Dead.net

Link to Magnaball sound-check --- pretty interesting stuff. I guess it was performed yesterday. http://livemusicblog.com/2015/08/20/must-hear-phish-delivers-45-minutes-of-improv-magnaball-soundcheck/

Listening to 8/12/15 via Phishtracks now --- sounds good. The Line is a pretty catchy tune. I know I got Fuego from the library and have it on my hard-drive - I don't think I ever gotten around to listen to the whole thing, yet.
-
Going back and forth if I want to purchase this weekend's Magnaball webcast --- it also is being broadcasted on XM, since I already subscribe, I might just listen to that feed. I agree - they have been sounding great this summer. Listened to Junta last night - still my favorite - followed by Rift.

Wilco — 8/14/15, Missoula, MT (Big Sky Brewing Company)
calvino replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
One my favorite Wilco shows was in Kalamazoo (2005) -- great town and great crowd that night. The wife and I may have spent too much time a Bells Brewery prior to the show, though. -
The Moma Dance has been in my head since yesterday, so I am listening to Live Phish 17 (7/15/98 Portland OR) this morning. Lot's of Phish on Spotify - which is a great thing.
