  1. I remember seeing pics of 60 rock stars with record players in their cars.
  2. This board is turning into the Hoffman board - pretty soon we will have to fill out our stereo gear in our profile. My goal is to put in a record player set up in my basement -- going on year 2 1/2 and still not there, yet. One of these days. There are great sounding CD's out there (Mofi's/SACDs/DVD-A) - so I don't think it's necessarily the format. When I bought my used Honda earlier this year, the Honda salesperson said that 2016 Honda's will not have CD players as a standard - just USB ports.
  3. The new book So Many Roads has a great passage on the recording of Blue for Allah - great book over all.
  4. Last weekend, out of the blue, my wife ask me if we should go up to Alpine and see Phish - which took me by surprise. After discussing it we decided not to - but definitely will get the webcast - if available. I listened to a recording of the recent LA Forum show yesterday - it definitely held my interest throughout.
  5. My brother and I use to watch that Spiderman - forgot all about that.
  6. Me and my wife watched Babadook a few weeks ago -- it was well done and freaky as hell. No nightmares for me, but I think my wife had one. For about a week afterwards my wife kept saying Baba-DOOK.
  7. The American League is a mess - who knows where the White Sox could end up - though I am guessing not in the playoffs. They are finally playing well, though - it's finally nice to be able to watch and root for them, without wanting to throw something. The "after you make a catch, you have to be able to take the ball out of you glove with control" rule worked in our favor, tonight.
  8. I guess that Ramble on Rose CD comes with the current/upcoming UnCut magazine.
  9. Plus he is a hoot to watch play live - which makes it fun in a live setting.
  10. Yeah - out of all the 5 shows - that Black Peter was by far the biggest clunker.
  11. This sounds like a cool project --- would be great if you share some pic's along the way. Guitar making, which I know nothing about - has always been fascinating to me. With regards to the thread -- I haven't played much at all as of late --- did write something, lyric wise, this week that sounds and looks good - but who knows what I will do with it.
  12. Don't forget about the So Out Tune streaming site --- great site, esp. while at work. http://sooutoftune.org/
  13. I don't remember ever seeing videos on bt-etree.
  14. Well crap, I really wanted to hear that 6/30/03 show. Did O'Rourke play a bunch of shows with Wilco - can't remember..
  15. From a record company perspective - having the Pitchfork show streamed across the world is a good thing. Obviously, Solid Sound didn't have that exposure.
  16. Do you mean that John and Pat are not on the record at all or that they share no songwriting/producer credits?
  17. That's cool of them. Saturday's line up actually looks the best of the three. Lot of great musicians will be there on Saturday.
  18. Definitely got more publicity doing it at Pitchfork, rather than Solid Sound, also the band may have not been ready - rehearsal wise - to perform it at Solid Sound; plus the record may have not been completely finished.
  19. Keith's new single --- pretty good. Like Waddy's slide tone. Video is kinda cool, too. http://keith-richards.tumblr.com/post/124559414353/keith-richards-trouble
  20. I only watched it once - but I seem to remember Glen taking an actual solo between two of the Star Wars' tunes -- while they were changing guitars and such. Could be wrong.
  21. I was at one of my niece's b-day party over the weekend - my brother and brother-in-law discussed Back to the Future and its anniversary for about 15 minutes. I have watched the first one countless times over the years, but I don't think I ever watched Part 2 and Part 3 in their entirety.
  22. Didn't realize you were visiting the Chicago area - at least I didn't think you lived up here --- Only made it to one of Fulks' Monday's shows - I know Louie and bbop has been to plenty. Hideout is a great venue. That night I saw Fulks, his theme was “Bitter Ex-Beatle Band Night” - - he performs songs like "How do you Sleep" and various solo 'bitter' Beatle songs - it was a fun night.
