Just listened to Disc 2 of Sticky Fingers this morning again while picking up around the house - indeed good stuff. Another thing - can't find my Some Girls deluxe cd - haven't listened to that in awhile. Seem to remember enjoying Disc 2 of Some Girls more so than I do disc 2 of Exile.

Anybody make it to the actual fest - curious if the crowd was receptive to the band and the new record. (I only caught the stream). My wife and I found it humorous when Tweedy wagged his finger at the crowd, with regards to the glow sticks.

For the Sunday Dead show I brought along a sixer of Firestone Easy Jack - it was pretty good. Definitely happy that more and more brewers are shipping cans, esp. for the summer season.

Wilco — 7/14/15, Morrison, CO (Red Rocks Amphitheatre)

Way to get Wilco to release a new record, bbop! Bravo! -
What it comes to the whole Spotify thing it isn't about the money --- everything else, sure. I don't get it either - I use Spotify when I am at work -- through shitty computer speakers --- even his Pono system will sound sucky through typical computer speakers. I would say keep stuff on Spotify, which is easily accessible to many, who then may go out an purchase his Pono system stuff (I never head anything from Pono) if they enjoy his music.

I believe him when he wrote it's not about the money, but rather quality of the stream.
-
Kinda figured he would go the route - kinda surprised it did not do it sooner. I have listened to his stuff on Spotify while at work.

It was 6 shows --- I am not sure they played anything during the run, that they didn't play again at some point during the tour --- it just that they had 6 nights to play - so they were able to vary the set lists from show to show -- by the 5th and 6th shows they started to do some repeats - which was fine by me. Does anybody know if song was played during the Winterlude run and not played again during the past tour? It seems like they were playing some 'deeper cuts' throughout this past tour. (for some reason I hate the phrase 'deep cut').

I think the Dead have history of bad 1st nights, 2nd Nights, 3rd Nights, etc...of runs. I think you may on be right track though - thinking over my shows, that seems to be the pattern for me,too -- I seen the same amount shows you have. From an energy stand point - it could have been me, though -- up till late the 1st night and up early for the 2nd show, to start again. Perhaps it same for the band. By the third night - I usually got into a groove. This was the case for this past 4th weekend.

Winterlude = Dec, 2014 Chicago Residency. Played a lot of the 'deep cuts' off the recent box set - which made it cool for me. A little acoustic encore which was fun.

I was kidding about the UT --- agree I thought the two winterlude shows I saw were great.

It seems that Son Volt has run its course, too --- guess it's time for a reunion...I am sure Heidron can still play. A Fall theater tour (billed the "From the Ashes" tour.) will get both Tweedy and Farrar back in shape and rekindle the Wilco and Son Volt's flames for 2016 - Somebody needs to send Margherita a letter.

Only have the Legacy reissues of Brothers, Sweetheart, and the Live at the Fillmore - Feb, 1969 --- I think I enjoy the Fillmore release the best - Clarence White is something else. Need to check out some more stuff from the library. I thought there was a Byrds thread at one point.

Below is the link to the XM/Sirius feed of the Fare Thee Well shows --- includes a pre-show broadcast and the entire show. Only listened to 7/3, thus far --- nice interview with Charles Lloyd - Lambert interviewed him while he and Lloyd were at Solid Sound. The whole 7/3 pre-show was pretty good. The show itself sounds very tinny - at least on my shitting work computer - but it's in mp3, so I don't expect too much. He interviewed Nels Cline, too - it must be on the 4th or 5th broadcast. I would always assume all shows (unless the venue prohibits it) will be a Roadcase at some point --- and I, for one, appreciate all yours and all other tapers, efforts. I am still one who enjoys a greatly recorded audience tape over a soundboard. But I understand where your coming from, my friend doesn't tape shows nearly as much, because he realizes the shows will be released via Roadcase.

I was on the opposite side - 242. Was afraid I wasn't going to have much of a view, since I was towards the side of the stage -- but I was able to see all - but the drummers, unfortunately.

Yeah - looking down on the floor - I was amazed. I was figuring it would take that long if one was in the middle of it all. I was in the 200 level seats - only left my seat during the set break and I had no problems.

At the Chicago shows - I saw infants through 80 year old's. Saw lot's of people who looked too young to see the Grateful Dead while they were touring, too. It was a great mix.

SarahC - you can always go to Archive.org and listen to any of their concerts. Can't really go wrong with anything from 70-74, but their are great shows throughout every year. It's a vast database - just gotta poke around. The shows with the most reviews, tend to be the best sounding and played shows. I agree with the Europe 72 release and American Beauty. Live/Dead is indeed great - but it may be too much for some, but if you really like Live/Dead, check out the 68-69 stuff on the Archive. https://archive.org/details/GratefulDead

Lot's of great craft beer around the lots in Chicago during the Dead weekend. Parked next one of the 3 Floyd brothers on Friday - he didn't bring any of his beers but he cooked up a killer prime rib. Typical going price was $5 a can. We had plenty of our own so I didn't buy any others. My first foray into craft beer was in the lots in the late 80s and early 90s. Sammy Smith's and Sierra Nevada being the most popular back than. Plus I remember Pete's Wicked Ale being around quite a bit.

I was fine with the set lengths and the typical set structure. I really did not want a bunch of guests, though Donna would have been nice, as well Branford, which I heard a rumor that he was at sound check. I am sure rehearsals were a challenge for the seven of them - throw in guests and it may have gotten even more sloppy. I was afraid with every jam-band in town doing gigs, that a bunch would play with them - glad that didn't happen.
-
It was pretty loud -- the whole stadium was loud --- I was surprised yesterday that they shot off more fireworks - between the sets - not after the show, which is typical. I was wondering if they did it earlier in the evening to appease the neighborhood.
-
Another some what cool thing was when Mickey strapped on the train horn during the drums section on the 5th and let it rip --- it brought back memories of 92.

I thought Trey did great, too -- it looked like he was having a blast on the stage, which was fun to watch.
