  1. Pre-Whole Love, my most listened to record of the year was the McCartney re-issue, I kinda love that album even the instrumentals. Then again I'm enough of a Sir Paul diehard, that Wings Wild Life is in my most played albums on iTunes. I have sat through Give My Regards to Broadstreet four times, and twice I kinda enjoyed it.
  2. This is a pretty tremendous Nigel moment too.
  3. Yes! Yes! Yes! Nigel Tufnel: Well, I suppose I could, uh, work in a shop of some kind, or... or do, uh, freelance, uh, selling of some sort of, uh, product. You know... Marty DiBergi: A salesman? Nigel Tufnel: A salesman, like maybe in a, uh, haberdasher, or maybe like a, uh, um... a chapeau shop or something. You know, like, "Would you... what size do you wear, sir?" And then you answer me. Marty DiBergi: Uh... seven and a quarter. Nigel Tufnel: "I think we have that." See, something like that I could do. Marty DiBergi: Yeah... you think you'd be happy doing something like-... Nigel
  4. Most days this is my favorite record of all-time.
  5. Which would be particularly odd as he has a co-writing credit. --Mike
  6. Hmmm... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-al-Emb9TY
  7. This isn't my favorite lineup of the band (that would be the Bennett/Kotche lineup on YHF) or even my second favorite lineup of the band (that would be the AGIB: Bach/Jorgensen crew), but on the tracks where the six-piece really clicks they can be incredibly transcendent and amazing. Like here: With The Whole Love I have the studio album that sounds the most like the one I'd always hoped they make, so I am not quite as interested in the band changing it up as I might have been a few years ago. --Mike
  8. Really happy to see New Madrid back in the fold. Maybe they'll revive We've Been Had again soon one of these days. --Mike
  9. P.S.: I think I saw the pic in my signature on your facebook page first, thanks for sharing it.
  10. Tom Scharpling's music videos are neck and neck with season two of Louie as my favorite thing of the year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3ahYMQA8TY
  11. Yeah, I think you're right. As bad as some of those Indiana teams were, I don't think they ever lost to a 1-AA (FCS) team at home by two touchdowns like UM did to North Dakota State, their loss to New Mexico State loss was pretty bad too. --Mike
  12. Got into him seriously thanks to a few his songs being featured in the Squid and the Whale film. Great talent, he will be missed. RIP. Green are your eyes In the morning, when you arise Don't you be afraid to lie By me, my love, Your father will not know.
  13. Great website, I like The Whole Love a little more than you do, but the sentiment you expressed is something I can certainly understand. About a year ago I was in the same boat, at least in not caring about the band as much as I once did, I wasn't particularly intrigued by WTA and had listened to the old ones so much I was a bit burned out so I put everything aside for about eight months with the exception of Summerteeth, I'll never give that one up. But I slowly got back into them, and have really enjoyed the newer one. --Mike
  14. Was it this song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CckFYoYq8GI
  15. To give you the personal response this query deserves. I think I am going to have to go PM here when I have a little more time. But cliffnotes version: Yeah, Robert, I think you'll like it. Give it a shot. --Mike
  16. ELO is still the first place I go on that song, but they were quite influenced by the Beatles/George Harrison so I can hear that in there as well. Haven't really thought it about in the Dark Side era Floyd context, will have to give it a listen with that in mind. --Mike
  17. I fully expected to see the Camel Album on here, but I guess A.M.'s isn't particularly exciting.
  18. Yes, he plays it on Company in My Back also, and there's a regular dulcimer on Hummingbird that's deep in the mix but you can hear it right before the first chorus. --Mike
  19. That song is incredible, there are days where the YHF demos are my second favorite Wilco album behind YHF. --Mike
  20. He posts here regularly actually under the moniker IRememberDBoon... oh, shit I wasn't supposed to say anything about that. Move along, nothing to see here.
