  1. happy birthay O king of teh cool band boards
  2. "On the road to find out" is one of my favorite songs of any one's, ever.
  3. Can you imagine all the trails??? Not to mention the aural hallucinations. I could take the wild visuals, but when I started hearing shit, that was awful.
  4. I loved driving when on acid -- and I did it pretty well. At least I think I did....
  5. Does video evidence exist? You could likely tell by his behavior between pitches.
  6. Economies are driven by innovation. Collective exhale - for now - in Detroit today.
  7. There are so many contradictions in this statement, I don't know where to start. And frankly, I am not going to explain it to you.
  8. You could argue Stop Your Sobbing was by a punk band, but the song is poppy for sure. How about Psycho Killer? I would bump Shining Star for that. Fuck all that upbeat stuff. Oh, and Low Spark of High Heeled Boys needs to be on there somewhere too. Kill Zeppelin then.
  9. Wish you were here - Pink Floyd WASP = The Doors Stop Your Sobbing - Pretenders Shining Star - Earth, Wind and Fire Aqualung - Jethro Tull When the levee breaks - Zep All down the line - Stones Funeral for a Friend - Elton John Helpless - Neil Young Take me to the River - Al Green
  10. Just in case if you all thought that the non-US carmakers are smacking their lips over this
  11. Excuse me southern lawmakers? The problems in the auto industry are trickling into your backyard too.
  12. Our house at the time was over 100 years old -- and the garage (a shack more than a garage) actually did collapse that winter. One of the walls that would normally be perpendicular to the ground was at about 10 o'clock, and the roof was sagging accordingly. We built a new one the next spring
  13. I remember the blizzard of '78, aka the year that my mom went ballistic on a snow plow driver that piled up snow at the end of the driveway just after she had shoveled it. It was also the year my stepfather put the end of shovel through their bedroom window while shoveling the porch roof so that it wouldn't collapse under the weight under all that snow. Good times. More recently, we were able to swim in our building's indoor pool while getting 20" of snow on New Years Day -- 1999 I think. Interestingly, we have never had extended power outages here due to ice.
  14. Will I get tickets to the inauguration??
  15. I voted for the douchebag twice as well -- but the last time (2006) was only so whoever became the dem nominee would have help here in IL. I had no idea that it would be Obama and that he would basically ostracize Blago. Thank God. Next time, I will not be so cowed. Blago has done little for the state besides giving senior citizen free access to public transportation, though you could argue that it is not good for the transportation system.
  16. Window/door companies are notoriously slippery. This would not surprise me a bit.
  17. Goldman wants to be able to borrow from the government discount window as well -- and they need bank status for that.
  18. It looks like they will get a limited bridge plan to, at minimum, see them through to the Obama administration. YAY. Seriously, YAY.
  19. I cried for days. Hell, I'm still crying.
  20. Fortunately I don't know/care what critics say, so I took this record at face value and I love love love it. Everytime a song comes up on my iPod, I look at it and say to myself... "Of course this is The National".
  21. Worse is like a 3-4 day growth. A guy might as well sleep in the doghouse
  22. The manufacturing sector's problems are only beginning. The big three and the rest of the sector are in a world of hurt if demand doesn't stabilize. What is hurting demand? The housing sector's problems. I heard the other day that the fed is looking at a new program that would offer people the chance to get new mortgages at 4.5% - designed to help to reduce the inventory overhang. The program as currently designed would not include refi's but that might change. We will probably never be where we were before - which is healthy. Finding the equilibrium will not be easy.
