  1. How come that last Wilco Instagram post with the map of all the places they're playing has a 11/24 date listed but there's no show announced on November 24th? Looks like somewhere in the US midwest?
  2. I am too! I feel like Warm took a long time from the first single till the second. How many Schmilco songs had we heard before they did their first Schmilco tourdate? I know I saw Wilco on Sept 2 and 3rd 2016 before Schmilco came out and that was the first time a lot of those songs had been played live and the first time anyone had heard a lot of them. Maybe they'll pull a Bon Iver and just randomly drop the album on the internet before the physical release date.
  3. My top 5 most wanted: Casino Queen Blue Eyed Soul Dreamer in My Dreams Pieholden Suite When You Wake Up Feeling Old Historically, I haven't seen as many shows as some of you, but I've seen a lot of in the past few years, so I've been treated to a lot of the newer material. The rarest songs I think I've heard would be Too Far Apart, Candyfloss, and probably Listening to the Wind That Blows. Song I've heard the most? Hummingbird!
  4. 44 Teenagers from the last Sloan record directly references Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip. Great song too. Margo Price mentions Levon Helm in A Little Pain. I'm afraid you're mistaken, I'm almost certain that's a Madonna song from the 00s.
  5. Tonight's Jeff Tweedy show was an eventful one. We got an update on Jeff's recent colonoscopy, shots were fired at another notable Chicago indie rocker, and we also celebrated Jeff's birthday. Let's dig in! First, the uh, first, THING Festival was a great experience. It's held in the Olympic Peninsula at historic Fort Worden, which is an old army base. It's an interesting setting for a music and arts fest especially considering everything is surrounded by thick PNW forests, giving it the atmosphere of being held in the woods. This is Adam Zacks new festival, Adam had previously curated Sasquat
  6. Phosphorescent, Calexico and Iron & Wine, Jeff Tweedy, maybe the Violent Femmes, probably some others.
  7. Just a heads up, this is not Jeff's performance at THING, he's actually on stage at 7:30pm PDT. None of the KEXP broadcasts will be open to the THING audience either. Sounds like they just have a studio set up and are having musicians come in and do sets just for radio.
  8. Orville Peck, Kurt Vile, Parquet Courts, probably some others!
  9. So about 42 minutes in total? I'm sure I've said this before but I really appreciate Star Wars, Schmilco, both the Warm albums, and now Ode to Joy being a single LP. I feel like that's a good length for most albums. A lot of records this year (National, Kevin Morby, etc) could probably have been stronger being edited down a bit, IMHO. The CD era ended up with a lot of records that would have been 10-15 minutes shorter on vinyl and probably better for it, glad to see things shorten down, for some artists at least.
  10. How was that? About once a week I'll see a social media post with doors/set times and I always at the early 4ish PM doors.
  11. That's disappointing. Maybe, whatever it is, will be released as a 7"? Wilco haven't done a physical single since Random Name Generator in 2015.
  12. RIP https://pitchfork.com/news/david-berman-silver-jews-purple-mountains-dead-at-52/ This one hurts.
  13. Yeah he needs to capitalize on this! I've seen the feral hogs referenced everywhere online from people outside the music world who've never even heard of Jason.
  14. Jason Isbell, best known as the guy from the feral hog thing.
  15. The pride of Swift Current, SK! I saw him do some songs a few weeks ago with Kathleen Edwards and Courtney Marie Andrews, never would have guessed he's only 25. Isbell is coming here in Wednesday but it's a solo acoustic gig with Josh Ritter.
  16. Sorry for the necro-bump but I want to compliment bbop for his astute observation that this place is a dump. I was there tonight for Kurt Vile, when I got there, I noticed the state of the place and then remembered this report. I saw multiple chairs with old gum stuck to the seats. I could keep going but let's just sum it up and say the whole place is just a dive. Hopefully next time I'm in T.O. I can check out Massey Hall if it's open again.
  17. Great pics as always! Does anyone have the setlist? And maybe a recap?
  18. Not to derail things. There's definitely something that makes me uncomfortable about Pitchfork also hosting their own festival. Especially since they now rarely report on other festivals unless it's after the fact (the Kermit the Frog stuff today) or bad news (Woodstock). But major festivals will announce their line ups and Pitchfork won't say anything, which feels weird especially from a journalistic view. I hate to put my tinfoil hat on but do they give more coverage, better coverage, to artists that are playing their fests?
  19. Hey Paul, were you going to THING next month? If not I will try to keep track of the setlist and do a report!
  20. I have to ask... did you shush them? There was someone complaining about getting shushed in the Facebook group!! I like singing along but if it's not a singalong song, I keep it quiet so I'm not bothering anyone else.
  21. Call me harsh but.... Ryan Adams is not entitled to a career. Performing in theatres and releasing records is a privilege and until he does make amends (which I don't know how you do that when you're being accused of sexting a child but definitely he could start by apologizing to Phoebe, Mandy, etc directly), yes, I feel like it's not unreasonable to expect him to just disappear and go wherever these me too'd guys go. It's not like he's been making minimum wage for the past 20 years, I'm sure he can live a comfortable life outside of the public eye. As it is, I can't imagine too many promoter
  22. It's really disappointing to see so many positive replies to his tweets. Though, not surprising, even at Solid Sound I saw a number of people in Ryan Adams tshirts. It's especially disconcerting that he hasn't apologized or done anything to suggest he's seeked help or done anything to correct his behavior. He's essentially saying "believe women ........but not these women". There's too much good music out there to spend any time listening to someone like Ryan Adams. Just go away.
