- King has been a Wilco fan for years - he didn't care for A Ghost Is Born (!) - he talked about some songs from Kicking Television in the 2005 list - there's a cool picture of King in a Wilco shirt i've seen numerous time unfortunately, some of his taste seems kinda hit and miss, even though he likes good music. -justin

YHF wasn't the first record to use the Marina Towers

>There's a Riot Goin' On. not sure, but i bought the remaster of this album earlier this year and it's mighty fine. -justin -
i was thinking about album of the year in the shower this morning (how weird...and dorky). my favorites (in order): 1. Radiohead - In Rainbows 2. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog 3. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky 4. The White Stripes - Icky Thump 5. The Shins - Wincing The Night Away 6. Kanye West - Graduation -justin

"Let Me Come Home" actually has an official release. Amos House Collection, Volume 3 or some such thing. -justin

Wilco heard while you're out and about

actually, come to think of it, when i was in college, i worked at Food Lion during the summer and they played "Theologians" quite a bit, along with a handful of other good songs that were on repeat for that month. -justin -

i sometimes hear them at a cool bar now and again and once, from someone's car while i was driving around the city. -justin -
ah! that is today...i was thinking sometime in December for some reason. thanks! -justin
-
correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think they are available for download yet. i'm thinking it might be the same day as the release date... -justin
-
yeah, i posted it on a thread shortly after the stream. i read somewhere that the tune goes all the way back to Uncle Tupelo days. -justin

oh god i know... rip Oink. now where to get lossless b-sides and other rarities that would cost $50 on ebay for a single silver disc?? -justin

>I'd start with "Have you seen a VW commercial lately?" that's exactly what i do. -justin

i heard it from a roadie or something that was hanging out beside the two buses. he's the one that made us leave the area. i mean, i've been able to meet Jeff several times, but this was really surprising... -justin

all of The Shins albums are fantastic, but they aren't as important as Wilco. so what? all three of their records are all superb listening experiences all the way through. -justin
-
here's a question: what was up with the special "Meet & Greet" tickets you had to buy to meet the band after the show? i've never seen shit like that at a Wilco show...it was always just: make your way to the bus, wait around and the band was extremely gracious. we went out to the buses after the show and were promptly turned away... -justin

i'm a huge Shins fan, but i saw them in '05 and i thought that they sucked. anyway, i heard they were better on the Wincing tour, but the first time really was enough for me, i think.... Wilco on the other hand...well, i've seen them three times (and Tweedy solo once) and it's always been fantastic. -justin

also, i was meeting a friend for dinner, but the first thing i heard upon parking was the soundcheck. i didn't have time to stick around and listen, but they definitely played "One By One" and it sounded great! -justin

great show! I Remember D Boon recognized me in the line for the bathroom. :-) lovecontagious, i totally understand what you are saying. i met one VCer there and recognized another person from Richmond who i used to work with and who is a big Wilco fan. at any rate, i was on a rather large Dylan message board and pretty much any Dylan show i went to had a pre-show/after-show get together and party with people from the message board who were attending that show. the feeling you get when you start discussing setlists with someone as passionate as you, well, you know how great that can be

he didn't ruin YHF or AGIB... -justin

i really don't think Jim O'Rourke is overrated. as much as i love SBS, i'd love to hear the mix of it that he did. -justin
-
i dunno...i've had to wait in line before to get front row at a GA Wilco show, but it was a much smaller venue too, so i suppose that's why i'm asking... -justin
-
i'd like to do a meet-up, but i'm meeting a relative of mine for dinner before the show. i'd definitely be up for a few beers afterwards though. i'm a fan of that bar Rapture on the mall. i try to hit it up when i'm in Charlottesville for a show...especially if it is at the Pavilion or the Paramount. -justin

why, thank you! that would be too kind of you. :-) you know what i look like from the pic! -justin

Blenders 10 most overpraised albums
you ever seen a ghost? replied to Kalle's topic in Someone Else's Song
okay, they dump on Pet Sounds, Astral Weeks, Exile On Main St., Modern Times, Kid A and later period Tom Waits? ridiculous... -justin -
question: if i want to get front row, how early will i have to que up? only a couple hours prior, right? i mean, i remember waiting a good 6 hours in freezing November weather to get a dozen rows back when seeing a General Admission Dylan show back in '02! i'm sure that won't be necessary here, but any tips would be much appreciated, as i plan on visiting with some people in C-ville and generally being in town all day. -justin
