I hate Higher Ground. Some friends took me there to see Medeski Martin & Wood for my birthday. I showed up early to see the opening act. I get there get my first beer, first beer of the day. A few years ago, a was sitting at a bar having a few drinks. I had just found out there was a Melvins show down the street, and though I wanted to go, I couldn't go on such short notice. A couple of guys came in who were obviously going to the Melvins show. These guys were real hardcore, almost skinhead looking guys. I was thinking the same thing. One time I went to a Seeger benefit for Clearwater in the basement of a little church. Apparently there was no backstage or bathrooms backstage because I used the urinal next to Seeger during set break. I didn't challenge him to a swordfight.

Reading that back I realized I wrote out his entire name twice within two sentences. But it fits because when you see it, you're just like, holy shit Liam fucking Neeson is beating the shit out of that guy. Seriously, he kills over 50 people throughout the film, many with just his bare hands.

Taken. Not a masterpiece for sure, not as exciting as the Bourne movies, but still a good action flick with good acting by Liam Neeson. The plot outline is kind of cheesy, but it is worth it to see Liam Neeson kicking some serious ass.

I look at it as more of an appreciator of music. You should see this movie. It's way more complex than you say, and it helped me understand Nixon, the presidency in general, and what it means to be American more fully. No broad strokes here. Really good.

This is an interesting article about this from my local newspaper (and employer). It has specifics to this area but it applies most everywhere. They do a limited release to be eligible and continuously build hype and expand markets to keep sucking in dough through the nomination and after the awards. This is different than say Epic Movie, where it's number one at the box office for one weekend then quickly drops off. Maybe it's a webmaster error. Similar thing happened to Phish this year. Ticketmaster posted a few phish dates on their site, then took them down. Within the next couple of days they were officially announced. Could be the webmaster doing some prep work and accidentally making it live, then realizing the error. I doubt the date would have some basis in reality if it was seen on the wilco website.
