  1. Less than you think protests music.
  2. Kotche, Drozd, and Hallahan of MMJ are the three best around. Whatstheirnames form DMB and UM are technical gods but they're WANKERS.
  3. i've made an honest attempt to pay for this album, but cant find it anywhere. someone please PM me.
  4. someone wanna hook me up with this PM style?
  5. Bob Dylan Wilco The Band The Beatles Neil Young My Morning Jacket Simon & Garfunkel The Flaming Lips David Bowie The Cure The Strokes Yo La Tengo The Lawrence Arms Dinosaur Jr. Led Zeppelin The Who Destroyer Kings of Leon The Velvet Underground Pavement (Limited to Rock to make things manageable)
  6. lyrics aren't usually a wilco specialty? umm...
  7. Wilco's newest album always becomes my favorite Wilco album.
  8. It's pretty simple: they just don't get it. Derogatis' review made me so happy when he said he gave it a dozen listens to break in because Tweedy is essentially the only guy around who has earned that. Pitchfork doesn't get that. I wish they din't have a decent news section, so then I wouldn't have to happen across their reviews when trying to find out about shows and such.
  9. In the public eye and the world of rock journalism, Wilco is overly-defined by YHF. I think Jeff is coming around to this, and is showing some understandable annoyance with it.
  10. Sounds awesome. Too bad the SCREAM isn't in the sample.
  11. It's been 5'd in my head, but all you View watchers keep us posted as to whether this does go down.
  12. When are we gonna get a song. I'm dying for this.
  13. the latter opinion, i'm sure, will hold up well under academic scrutiny.
  14. I'm pretty big into Banyan, they rock. Nels isn't at the center like he is on most of the other reccomendations, but he rules when he needs to, and everyone else does too.
  15. Along with the right to vote, education is one of the most underappreciated and underdeveloped privileges in America.
  16. People talk about the directness of the SBS lyrics, but I'm not really buying it so much these days. Either Way is extremely direct and readable, as is Hate it Here and a few others. But I'm still wrestling with the narrative of a lot of the songs, particularly Side With the Seeds and Shake it Off. To label the lyrical nature of SBS as direct is somewhat short-sighted and not entirely representative.
  17. I'm not worried for any true Wilco fan with this one. It's a grower! I LOATHED SBS the first 3 or so times I heard it, and then i had an incomprehendable epiphany and couldn't listen to anything else for a long time... I still really can't. This album is GORGEOUS. It might be the best thing they've ever done. I'm on the verge of tears several times when I'm having a good listen.
  18. 2nd review=knee jerk reaction... I went through a similar plague on my first 3 or 4 listens of SBS
