  1. never been a fan of BE untill i sat down with this one, must go back and re-evaluate older work, Cassadaga is quite good.
  2. Basically, this country's legal system is-and for a long time has been-the whore of industry.
  3. I think it's possible that this book is divisive amongst Wilco fans?
  4. same can be said for phantom limb by the shins, which XRT plays constantly
  5. I think that Hate It Here is the best "single" on the album, personally.
  6. I like the book quite a bit, and am always confused as to why other people don't. It's not as much about Wilco as it is about a bunch of other things inherently related, like the progression of Tweedy as an artist (which of course involves UT), the current nature of the music industry, and a slew of other goodies.
  7. the entirety of on and on and on, which seems to be the most underappreciated song in the history of this message board.
  8. you guys are thinking too small. the song has something to do with temptation, a human emotion, not something as deducible as a single drug or drug problem, even if that's what originally started the songwriting here. whatever is chrome was probably jeff's source of temptation. something like the container his painkillers were in maybe? I really dont know these things, and its not entirely important, because, suffice to say, i understand the song on an emotional level. Nothing embodies the conflict that the song represents better than Tweedy's solo, which sounds struggling, resistant to a beau
  9. Go on, make your picks. I dare ya. Mine? Dylan, Lennon, Tweedy
  10. Someone please PM me this and I'll make it worth your while
  11. I assume that the Bonnaroo lineup is not complete. About when should we expect more artists to be announced and who do we presume they will be?
  12. dont fuck with dylans voice, ever
  13. YHF, AGIB, These Times They Are A Changin, Blood on the Tracks, High way 61 Revisited
  14. what songs did he play guit on?
  15. Ya know, a quick follow up wouldnt surprise me much at all at this point. The band is in such a creative groove, and since Jeff isn't writing music that so dramatically pains him anymore (Summerteeth, YHF), making more music is really the only thing to do. **** They should call it "The Freewheelin' Wilco" ****
  16. Well, it's just not true. Although Tweedy definitely encouraged the electronic stuff, it was Bennett that was going nuts with it, and was his idea. And the band saw it as a way to uniquely underscore the horrors evoked by the dark lyrics, not as a form of satire. It's pretty rare that Tweedy does anything musically that's anything short of sincere.
  17. It makes me anticipate some freewheelin' Spoon tracks, which excites me endlessly.
  18. I don't think speculation about SBS being the finale for Wilco is unfounded or absurd. But, I still don't believe it to be their last album. And that isn't just me saying so to console myself from the fear of sadness that Wilco's end would bring.
  19. The Marmalade-Reflections of my Life An under the radar one hit wonder masterpiece.
  20. Who else has thought about the fact that Wilco is already quite old? Nels is over 50, Jeff will soon be 40. They're nowhere near their creative end if this album is any indication.... but one does have to wonder how much longer this can go on. There's more than enough there to make multiple more great albums, I just hope they do.
  21. So do the grammy givers.

    Jeffers

I'm pretty sure that that's Jeff ripping it up with the guitar on You Are My Face. Just listen to the tone, way more jagged than Nels'. This is probably my favorite guitar part on the new album. Jeff has developed a fresh, distinguishable playing style, and I personally can't get enough of it. God bless his heart.
