  1. Comments? Criticisms? I can take it. The rest of the band is pretty sensitive about it, but they'll never see this thread. I'm not a huge fan of how lucid the mix is. I'm not a huge fan of the vocals either. My singer sang them differently in recording than he ever did in practices and I didn't know how to tell him not to. The drums are also a little clunky. Our drummer looks for cues a lot from the other guitarist and was somewhat lost doing tracks solo (simply the way it had to be done). I'm playing rhythm on all songs except for Monkey, on which I play lead. Seriously, any feedback is appre
  2. I definitely know where you're coming from. Wilco and Tweedy are still great and will probably always be my favorite, but if SBS is the new direction (which it seems to be with the two new songs) rather than the delightful sidestep I told myself it was when it came out, I'll no longer be able to make the argument that Wilco is the most important band around. I actually had this thought about an hour ago and was glad to find this post.
  3. nothing could have put more of a damper on my day.

  7. Random Candy is the name of my new band. Here's us playing seven of our songs: www.youtube.com/user/RandomCandyMusic We're looking to record soon, sometime in August. I shall keep the people of Someone Else's Song updated whether they like it or not.
  8. tad bit unrelated buy i'm way into their cover of Heart It Races on their MySpace. Hate the original song and AiH in general, but I'm crazy about this cover.
  9. Good Wilco conversations have spawned from wearing Wilco. One of my dearest friends and I hit it off originally because I was wearing Wilco. Believe it.
  10. Yeah, I talked to him (Logan) after the set and he was as nice as he is talented.
  11. Pitchfork reviews are often parodies of themselves. Especially with established bands like MMJ.

  14. saw him in Iowa City. Was great in spite of crappy venue and sound. (some crappy room in student union). voice is magestic, loses nothing from its studio greatness. highly recommended.

  16. Joyce's Dubliners. Just finished Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea, Faulkner's As I Lay Dying.
  17. Does anyone else care to talk about this band? They're among my favorites, even though they only put out one LP. It happens to be one of the most fucking awesome albums ever.
  18. apparently people are very sensitive about Springsteen references.
  19. So they're pretty serious about this Bruce Springsteen thing.
  20. I really love the new song. I really love Albert Hammond, Jr. I'd kill for the new album. Leak, anyone?
