A fine show that is always going to be overshadowed by the strangeness of the previous night. Timber might just be my favorite cover tune - a

That was the first thing that crossed my mind too.

Happy Birfday q23! If I didn't have two 60 pound hounds napping on my couch, I'd totally drag it out into the yard and burn it down, Buckeye-style.

Thanks for posting this!

This makes perfect sense to me. Like The Dead and The Floyd are both, on the surface, purveyors of "psychedelic" rock it's more of an American versus British take on a (somewhat) similar thing.

The "I so don't care about the Olympics" thread
mountain bed replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Yes it was! That may be the best thing we'll see this time - just awesome. -
My late friend Dennis once accidentally wiped his rear end with poison sumac on a camping trip. He also kept a John Holmes penis pump in his truck at all times (just in case, you know). He played the bass in our fine local band "Max Cool & The Heating Unit" - but during practices they called themselves "Anal Sumac & The Penis Pumps". I know this has absolutely nothing to do with the thread topic but I just wanted to share.

RIP Isaac. I loved the man's music - there was a time when the Shaft soundtrack (yes, on 8 track) didn't leave the deck for a week at a time.

8/10/97 - Deer Creek, Noblesville IN I: Bathtub Gin > Sparkle, Down With Disease, Dirt, Cars Trucks Buses, Billy Breathes, Split Open And Melt*, Bye Bye Foot > Ginseng Sullivan, Harry Hood II: Cities > Good Times Bad Times > Rotation Jam > Rock-A-William# > David Bowie E: Cavern Alright. Now that Jerry Week is officially over, it's time to start Phish Festival Week. I was at this show, and it was easily one of the strangest things I've ever seen. The first set is an all-timer imo - a perfect mix of jamming tunes and the more song-based things that came out of the

I've seen bits and pieces of the Family Dog thing, but that "Go Ride.." movie looks REAL good (never seen it). Very little QMS footage out there - that would be awesome to see.

Happy Birthday to a a man of consummate musical taste! Hope it's a good one.

In the post-Let It Be/pre-London Calling era SD personified what was right about pop music: excellent song arrangements, top notch musical 'chops', quirky lyrics, etc. It's really rare that such tasteful stuff was actually available on top 40 radio.

The "I so don't care about the Olympics" thread
mountain bed replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I haven't seriously watched the Olympics ever since those damn Reds stole the basketball gold from us in '72. I can remember that very clearly. We do have a girl here from our little podunk village in the Games this year. And, as I'm sure you know Dan, it's the greatest thing to happen to Elwood since Wendell Fucking Willikie. -

Happy Birfday man! In your honor, tonight I will break out the Electrolux and play the following medley: Hold Your Head Up > Man On The Moon > I Didn't Know (w/ vacuum solo) > Man On The Moon > HYHU Reprise -
However mundane and less "profound" the newer lyrics may seem (on the surface) one thing seems consistent throughout the band's career (imo): the way the words move you really depends on the emotional landscape you're in when you listen to the music. Sometimes a line or two can just jump out at you and drill you to the floor. It's always been that way for me with Jeff's music and I have no doubt that will continue.

Whoa! I thought the Indy setlist was good, but that's some stuff there! This is fantastic news - I just got off the phone with a friend in Charleston, and I was saying how I didn't expect the TPs to head south with the band. Hopefully this will continue on. I'll bet that Blood of the Lamb was exquisite!

Exactly. And although it misses the point entirely to compare this to Carter sitting around with a sweater on, if we had heeded his advice 30 years ago we would not be in the situation we're now in.
