  1. Do you have any shows with OBC on it? Evidently that tune used to open their shows back then sometimes.
  2. Thanks for that. I don't recall that article (I didn't 'get it' until '81) but I used to read that magazine a lot at that time. EDIT: Well there ya go. 2007. I thought it said 1977. Doh! I like the description "the grandfathers of the whole indie scene". I've been known to rave on that idea from time to time.
  3. It's back folks (with minor alterations). Debates all day in the House. Here's a list of the yeas and nays from the last vote (10/18). http://www3.capwiz.com/c-span/issues/votes...101&tally=1 (Click on issues, scroll to House- Childern's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act) Scroll down the list of nays and see if your Rep voted no. If so, I'll urge you (again) to give your Congressman some static with a little letter (e or snail) and let them know that not only is their vote morally reprehensible but it WILL cost them their seat next year. S-CHIP is set to expire on 11/16.
  4. Just curious Dangerer - you ever go to/play at Canal Street Tavern? I love that place!
  5. Awww. A week with this fella and you'll have to get one of your own (if you don't have one already). Enjoy!
  6. I was over at the green board yesterday and I couldn't believe how many threads/posts were talking about this. I'm so out of touch...never had an account or anything.
  7. I was weaned on "Country Life". Fantastic record. Of course there's always the 'greatest LP cover ever' thing too. Spring Session M defines the whole L.A. New-Wave aesthetic for me. It shocked the hell out of me when this came out - considering the people involved.
  8. Nice. It's always been a dream of mine to play in a Floyd cover band. If I ever win a million bucks in the lottery I'd buy some really bitchin' equipment and get down to it!
  9. If I had to listen to any one of those ten songs I swear I'd kill myself.
  10. I was thinking of handing out these little orange barrels, but there could be some, errrm, legal ramifications.
  11. Califone- "Goodbye Cheater" (live comp 2001-04) I MUST see these guys sometime. Mind-blowing stuff. Thanks Robert.
  12. Very nice. I've never heard 12/30 but 12/31 gets a lot of spins here.
  13. I just don't know what to do now that Brownback has dropped out. The man has vision.
  14. I'm a little bit disappointed that, given the screen name, the dude wouldn't be a little more 'live and let live'.
  15. Every time I come to town The boys keep kickin' my dawg around Makes no difference if he's a hound They gotta quit kickin' my dawg around --Champ Clark's campaign song, 1912
  16. I was in a Yes cover band and we had two sets: set 1 - The Gates of Delirium set 2 - Ritual. I'm totally joking here (of course). Seriously though, I did play in a nice little garage band that did a lot of Crazy Horse, Stones, Dylan etc. Easily the best band I've played in was a jamgrass-style group that did some Steve Earle, Todd Snider and a shitload of YMSB. The centerpice of our sets was looong versions of Dawn's Early Light> Two Hits (and the joint turns brown). The mandolin player was a real muthafucka.
  17. I must tell you, the older you get the more GL will resonate with you. NP: Grateful Dead - Bellarmine College, Louisville KY 12/7/68
  18. Spoken like a true Dead Head. Welcome to the board man.
  19. Petty is my oldest kid's favorite. There's one Christmas gift.
  20. BG, I'm very sorry. All the best vibes to you and your family in this tough time.
  21. I received this article this week, i found it to be an interesting read: The Pacers, 40 Years Ago: A Major League Beginning A win launched Pacers' ABA franchise By Mark Montieth It was 40 years ago today that the Indiana Pacers first came to play. They've been going in and out of style, but their debut certainly raised a smile. A 117-95 victory over the Kentucky Colonels on Saturday, Oct. 14, before a standing-room only crowd at the fairgrounds Coliseum launched the American Basketball Association franchise with stunning momentum. The Pacers have since weathered the peaks and
  22. I did not know that. I probably would have lasted 5 minutes in the service. You're also pretty lucky btw. A good number of my friends joined after HS and nearly everyone of them came home with a big alcohol monkey on their back. But...back on topic - what do you think of the Sling Blade idea dudes? I think I could pull that one off no sweat. So far, Mr. Rain has the best idea though.
