  1. At least you're getting the game. I've got the coveted LAD/AZ game running. I curse you to Hell, FOX. I think if you've got the MLB EI package you should be exempt from the blackouts. That's what I think.

  3. I'll blame smastroyin. I called one of my brothers in CT in the top of the 8th during game 7 of the 2003 ALCS to talk about how it looked like "we" were going to the WS. Never. Again. Until. It's. Over. I don't know what IM is, actually....
  4. I grew a full beard during the game last night. The game was just a couple minutes shy (4 hrs., 43 min.) of the record for 9-inning games. The record (4 hrs., 45 min.) was set last year between NYY/BOS last summer.

  6. The "Frankie Lee"...? I'll yousendit here when I get home, if you'd like.
  7. I always get a kick out of Garcia singing "Joey," too. Those high notes he tries to hit crack me up (in a good way). It's endearing. Garcia also sings a real sweet version of "The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest" on Been All Around This World (w/Grisman).
  8. re: new Frank Blank. er, Black Francis. How is it? How does it compare with his other stuff? NP: on the way to work this a.m. - R.E.M. It's The End of the World bootleg. A show from late 80s/early 90s.
  9. Just a "head's up" for those not going and don't know: AT&T will be doing their free "Blue Room" deal all weekend. I don't know if they'll be showing the Wilco part, but I'd imagine they would be hitting all the big names...: http://www.attblueroom.com/music/events/acl.php

  12. It's amazing how far these guys have come since they started just a few years ago. Some pretty decent hard/Classic rock sounding stuff. I've seen 'em in small clubs around town (they're from Boulder) and they're a decent live act, too.
  13. As long as we're all sharing: I own a pair of Tommy Hilfiger (sp?) shoes I scored at a discount store in a mall in Nashville two years ago that are some of my favorite sneakers ever. They feel great and look sharp (not so much anymore, but still). I generally go with Jack Purcell's, low-key Champion sneaker, or Simples.
  14. Whenever they call "1 ball..." on Lowell I still snicker at the tv screen to myself. Those photos were taken on John Henry's private plane, iirc. I like the one with Manny and Okajima, best. Okajima's got the necklace and shirt unbuttoned a bit, nice and casual. Also, the contrast in Paps with the nice outfit and Manny in ripped jeans and a plain white tee.
  15. On the way to work this a.m. :Steve Earle, Train A-Comin'. That tune "Goodbye" gets me every time....
  16. re: Crocs sandals. I agree. Every summer for the past 8-9 years I've bought a new pair of Teva flip-flops for about $20. By the end of the summer they're worn down and usually pretty uncomfortable to wear as there's no cushion left in them. They also wreak havoc with dead skin around the edge of the foot that requires me to apply heavy dosages of foot cream throughout the summer to keepmy feet from cracking/peeling. The Crocs are very comfortable with none of the above issues, cost just a little more than the Tevas, and will last a lot longer. Unfortunately, I lost my Crocs sandals to a ri
  17. I forgot about this one. A beautiful version of the song.
  18. Dylan's been known to do some pretty cool covers of his own tunes, too.
  19. Just remembered the Beat Farmers covered "Positively 4th Street" pretty well.
  20. The GD have covered a lot of Dylan over the years, going back to the 60s with (It's All Over Now) Baby Blue. I've always thought they've treated Dylan's work really well in their interpretations of his tunes, too. I particularly like how they cover "Visions of Johanna." Garcia's voice just works perfectly with the song's imagery, imo. I also really appreciate Garcia's take on "It Takes a Lot To Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry" and "She Belongs To Me." And Phil Lesh belting out "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blue" is a hoot, too.
