Sugar yields the best stuff:gas ratio out of all of them...I'm pretty sure nothing is particularly close. Besides, depleting algae sounds like the least sustainable thing ever. You're going to clean out the entire food chain if you go for algae, and if you're bioengineering the stuff you're not going to be able to placate the demand. While in the long term algae may turn out to be viable, sugar is the best option right now. Baby steps, man. We can probably fix the majority of cars to use biofuels within ten years if we start immediately, that'll cut a good chunk of foreign oil. Next

Easy. Well, easy in the sense that it's only two steps, but it'll be a pain in the ass to do (at least #1), so it's not quite easy. 1. Eliminate the sugar trust/lobby. 2. Use the cane sugar to make biofuel, like Brazil already does. I've brought it up time in time again...

From USA today a new interpretation of the Beatles
Gobias Industries replied to John Smith's topic in Someone Else's Song
Well, it certainly lacked substance. You really go to watch what is going on the screen and hear the not legit Beatles tracks. And, worst comes to worst, it's someone's interpretation of the Beatles. John said that their music is what the people make of it, so you can't fault the director for that. Apparently it's a hot movie with girls thanks to that lead guy. -
I'm happy with that speech.

I think the difference is that John Kerry wasn't justifying his cred with "I served in Vietnam." McCain is using his POW-ness as a way to shirk responsibility for his increasingly less maverick voting record and to justify his positions (and "I'm a POW" is scarcely a justification for claiming knowledge of military diplomacy, starting wars, continuing wars, the economy, you get the picture). And plus, if he is sticking so closely to his "POW-ness," he should at least have the balls to vote more than 40% to help his fellow veterans.

Man, I hope the Yankees win it. I don't care for the AL East, but if they don't win it, oooooh, that would be terrible for Yankee Stadium, and, I suppose, for Yankee Nation (if it exists?).

Hell, I'll bite, I want it to happen. That's incredibly ballsy.

Biden was good. The "Freudian slip" was awesome, loved it.
-
If anyone should be reuniting it should be Jeff and Jay Farrar. Just sayin'.
-
Congrats! May he quickly learn to walk the earth, you know, like Caine in Kung Fu.

Could the constantly breaking single-piece maple bats that injure people and this be enough to change the rule? I suppose that's the question. Seems unlikely, but as the injury count rises for the breaking bats, I can see it changing.
-
New bats? Apparently they're good, and don't break.

zz top, rick rubin and the black keys
Gobias Industries replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I don't really know, I love the old Cash stuff, and Cash just by himself is even more awesome, and then and Rubin comes in with all his junk. It's just a knee-jerk reaction, I suppose, because the albums never came off to me that well, and I fucking hate Green Day. -
If by "hundreds of toys, cds, records, baby furniture, baby clothes, etc." you mean "vintage pre-CBS era Jazzmasters for 1/1000 their real worth" I will be there.

Same here. We were last place in the ALC 2 weeks ago, now we're third place? I'll take it.
-
Thank God for Youtube.

It blows me away every time.

Rick Rubin tainted Johnny Cash's posthumous work, I will never forgive him for that. -
What song would you like to see Neil and Wilco do together?

And Red-Eyed & Blue > I Got You (At the End of the Century) > Outtasite (Outta Mind). -
This is going to be hilariously awesome since I haven't done any studying up.

Yes. Let's start Clan VC.

Streaming the new Byrne-Eno record on their website. I like it, I'll probably end up getting it this week sometime. Which means, of course, I'll have spent over 40$ on music just this week (Dylan's Basement Tapes, Live 1966, and this).

From USA today a new interpretation of the Beatles
Gobias Industries replied to John Smith's topic in Someone Else's Song
That dude is a joke. But on the serious side, Lennon (in "Revolution," one of the dude's major "sources") is all for change and revolution, he's just against violent overthrow of the system which is, quite simply, unnecessary. Change has to be peaceful for it to be of any use...as Lennon says , violence begets violence, so the best thing is to be nonviolent, because, perhaps, nonviolence will, for once, beget nonviolence. -
Pocahontas Will To Love Star of Bethlehem Like a Hurricane Too Far Gone Hold Back the Tears Homegrown Captain Kennedy Stringman Sedan Delivery Powderfinger Look Out for My Love That's the Chrome Dreams album that should have come out. It's my favorite. I can't bear breaking albums into pieces so I would just give them your personal favorite Neil and direct them from there.
