  1. Truly a damn shame. One of the first shows I watched with my young kids and though they moved on to Jeff Corwin, always thought Irwin was a special character, though also had a feeling it was a matter of time for him. RIP.
  2. Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell....Harry Potter for adults, I'm told. I started it but am not sure I'll finish it.

    Love rbally

Not sure if this has already been covered, but rbally.net posted the Pines show, which is truly awesome. I don't know who this cat is but I'm eternally in his or her debt. Lots of great old and new and solo material available for those of us who don't do the torrents. Just fyi.
  4. Sebold's The Lovely Bones.... a bit intense, but any other good recommendations of books about ghosts in America?
  5. I've heard stuff from Mermaid at a couple of local Starbucks.
  6. Anyone read Chronicles? Dylan devotes a section to his love of Bono (drinkin Guinness, getting all philosophical, etc.). He seems to have a high regard for him...
  7. They also say there are no atheists in foxholes, but I read some where that military atheists have objected to crosses in military cemeteries....but that's another thread.
  8. My only point of reference for two sets is Springsteen, back in the day. Man, that wore me out. I think, these days, one long set is the way to go and though I love JT, he's no BS. I've liked the longer encores and think the band might lose some momentum if they had some kind of intermission. Plus, the crowd would just get more drunk and obnoxious--at least those frat boys!
  9. The house we're renting has no Wilco!!!! So I put on John Coltrane, Anthology, which was nice, for a while. Then a little Dylan, Blood on the Tracks, which I haven't heard in a long time. Nice, too. But still, not fully satisfying. So I went to the ipod, put on headphones, and cranked AM.
  10. Anyone been to Victoria? It's freakin gorgeous....parts of the coast remind me of Santa Barbara, which brings back memories. And U of Vic has a bunch of bunnies all over the place. Rabbits. Really!
  11. I'm in for $5!! Let's get Froggie a nice b'day present!
  12. Walken !!! Sing it to myself almost everyday.
  13. If you do, please pray that Wilco will be somewhere in the Southeast at the end of October, when I'll be back in Atlanta for a few days (or NYC on or near 10/25). I don't care if it's Jesus, Allah, the Almighty--whatever. It it does turn out, I promise I'll consider believing!! I'll buy anyone a beer who has a direct line and can work this out! To live without a savior Answer to his name Shouldn't be afraid Shouldn't be ashamed
  14. I'm loving Chronicles, Vol. 1, and there's no doubt Dylan has had a more exciting, richer, fuller life, than JT, but ..... Wilco and JT on every count for me.
  15. some folks find that their role in life is to fail at everything they try while other folks see but not like me there's one thing that they're damn good at gather around you all come around and see those who stand tall why don't you please watch me fall the hole it is wide and it's there to divide it's no one's fault, it's put there by design and there's a bridge yet to build as many men have willed that can stand the weight of all those who wish to pass gather around you all come around and see those who stand tall why don't you please watch me fall
  16. Shhhwwweeeeeeeeettt!!! Made my day! Easy to complain about what's missing, but really, a great selection of tunes--lots from Summerteeth (I thought ELT was a stand-out solo!!) and War on War to boot! Thank God for Theologians and The Ruling Class . . . lots to celebrate. Let's all watch it at the same time, same day, and have a running commentary--or maybe just three or four of us.
  17. Nothing on my nuts, as far as I know. But, I do have a Baker's cyst behind my knee...
  18. Whatever Wilco album I'm listening to!!!! I love listening to each one equally. Why pick a favorite? If forced to pick one album and live with it forever on a deserted island....... Being There
  19. Right you are!! I'm a bit illogical when it comes to AWATT, which I consider an expanding musical universe with Tweedy at the center (as I've said, AJATT just doesn't have the right ring to it ). I should have included Golden Smog too.... Back on the road.
