  1. We watch way too much Phineas & Ferb at my house these days. I'm pretty sure the kids think the TV is the glowing box that plays P&P. Great humor for kids and parents.
  2. Sir Stewart is right. I now make a whiskey my weekly Mad Men watching ritual.
  3. Your lack of understanding of addiction is astounding and sad.
  4. Lima Time! isn't really a great song, but I miss Jose.
  5. I recently saw a stat that something like 1/2 of all Internet users visit FB in any given day.
  6. Can I assume the album will also have a cover of the VU song of the same title?
  7. I drank whiskey tonight. Jameson's to be exact. A shot was purchased on my behalf because I used profanity. A person who's worked 30 feet from me for 5 years did not think I was capable of uttering profane words. She was proved wrong. I drank whiskey. I am happy now.
  8. Hawkeyes beat their (admittedly weak) in-state rival 35-7 and drop in the polls. Bring on the Big 10 Season. Michigan scares me, but we should match up well the way we shut down Ga. Tech's spread offense in the Orange Bowl.
  9. Missed yesterday's. I saw today's before I read about it here. A first.
  10. Michigan looked scary good last night. That QB, WoW! We'll see if they're for real, but -- as an Iowan -- I'll be sorry to see their resurgence.
  11. I agree about the jolt. The first time I saw it, I was expecting nothing but comedy. Ray Liotta scared the hell out of me. Very few movies give me the visceral reaction. The adrenaline shot scene in Pulp Fiction is the only other one that immediately comes to mind. In other news, I watched Big Fan with Patton Oswalt last night. It was very good. It was difficult to get past the voice of Remy from Ratatouille though.
  12. I pretty much agree w/ Wilco Me. Using a 30 year old song in a commercial is one thing. Clearly, he didn't write that song to sell snowboards, the Olympics, or whatever. What Susan Boyle represents in the music industry is substantially different than using songs in commercials. It's not about Lou having integrity by not sharing the song with her, it's about him using his property the way he sees fit. Lou is certainly cantankerous as hell and I don't care (much) whether or not Susan Boyle sings his song. But if he does -- and now it apparently seems he doesn't -- I don't see him as an as
  13. And a reminder to me that September isn't even half over yet. C'mon Twinks, you can't lose to the likes of the Indians.
  14. It's Lou's song. If he doesn't want it to become part of the reality show machine, that is his right. Boyle is definitely a talented singer, but her career is more about enriching the pocketbooks of others, not enriching the lives of her fans. In a few years (or days, or maybe already) she's going to be grouped in with the likes of William Hung. I don't think this had a thing to do with what Boyle looks like but has everything to do with the part of the music business she represents.
  15. IMO, it's much better than Good News. It's much more raw & angst filled. I may be biased as I saw him play many of the tunes about a year ago and I was terribly impressed w/ his voice.
  16. Bach's Cello Concertos 1-6. This is the recording I have.
  17. Vibes to you and your family Husker Du - Hardly Getting Over It Twenty years ago, saw a friend was walking by And I stopped him on the street to ask him How it went, and all he did was cry I looked him in the face, but I couldn't see past his eyes Asked him what the problem was, he says "Here is your disguise" Now he's hardly getting over it Hardly getting used to getting by Old may lays down by the railroad tracks Got no paper in his pocket, got no paper on his back I asked him what the time was, he says "Hit the road now, Jack" Went back to see him next week He died of a heart attack
  18. I'm guessing Jules has had this exact conversation with at least one employee.
  19. Go Big 10!! ESPN says my Hawkeyes have the best opportunity to play for a championship based upon ease of schedule and quality of team. Should be an exciting year. Kirk sometimes forgets to motivate the boys to play the "easy" games. Took to FG blocks in a row to beat Northern Iowa last year. I can't wait.
  20. A generation before it was Intellivision instead of Atari.
