  1. To most people on this board, probably not. But if someone paid that, then obviously it was worth it to them.
  2. What part of Jules post did you not get? He may have had his pitching arm amputated, if someone pays him $10 million or $10,000, that's what he's worth.
  3. There's worse fates than making 6 or 7 figures to sit in Camden Yards watching less than mediocre baseball.
  4. Tell me why you like it better than Pandora. I just signed up. I find the interface very busy. Lots of links, but little useful information right up front. We'll see how it turns out, but for now I favor Pandora.
  5. Congratulations on the engagement, Matt. That's a moment that won't soon be forgotten.
  6. This too. This guy's on NPR once or twice a year. http://www.zooglobble.com/
  7. I suppose about 1/2 the pedal steel I've heard in my life was played by him. More like 90% before until I was about 25. RIP.
  8. I want to plug the new Justin Roberts CD, Jungle Gym. Des Moines native now based out of Chicago. I believe his songwriting gets better with each album. Lots of great melodies and words that both kids and parents will appreciate. The video below is a good example of his great music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTpHAbuEQac
  9. She's a sucker for a good melody and harmonies. Plus she loves the line "This is the worst trip I've ever been on." And it's about a boat. Lots for a kid to like.
  10. I must be in the minority who love Sloop John B. For a brief time this spring it was the only song my 5 year old daughter wanted to listen to.
  11. Wow, no "Don't Dream It's Over"? That's on the 1st record. That could be construed as self-indulgent. How many people's emotional attachment to that band begins with that song? Not playing it is satisfying themselves more than the audience.
  12. They were on Jimmy Fallon this week. Liked the song the played a lot.
  13. Very sad. I often disagreed with him but he was full of class and intellect. A thoughtful, reasonable voice in a sea of loudness and insanity that clutters up our media.
  14. Watching it right now. I think Sasha and Melia (sp?) are thinking, "Why can't he be a Jonas brother?"
  15. Curb Your Enthusiasm - SSN 7, the Seinfeld reunion. Larry David continues to be brilliantly misanthropic. It's amazing all those actors are will into play those twisted versions of themselves.
  16. Looks like we only get Sandberg for one season here in Iowa.
  17. Vibes Crow! I've had a few friends with cancer scares recently, everyone's in remission right now, but we must try to treasure each and every day.
  18. Warehouse is a Husker Du album. Do you mean Workbook? I think the sound of that CD is great. Never heard it on vinyl, so maybe I'm missing something. Workbook is my absolute #1 album, so I wouldn't mind hearing an attempt at remastering, just don't think it's needed.
  19. The momentum that this movement has picked up in the last few years has amazed me. My state's (IA) supreme court authorized it about a year ago. While there are many loud protests from the far right, I think most people have either supported it or been ambivalent. A moderate candidate won the Republican primary against a right winger who threatened to challenge the court through executive order. I used to think this was a movement that was going to require patience, but now I think it's coming sooner rather than later.
  20. Pat Robertson will blame the Godless Obama administration, no doubt.
  21. They probably can't fix all the drum sounds on Husker Du stuff. But re-mastering and re-mixing could "hide" that sound a bit more. Never heard the vinyl Husker stuff, but had a cassette (official release, not copy) of Warehouse. It sounded much better than the CD.
