  1. That led to my discovery of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWQgktBR6-w
  2. I'm sure Carrie Fisher's addiction was, at least on some level, he way of coping with having participated in that.
  3. couldn't be a more appropriate title for des moines. we've been nailed with 6+" of rain the last 2 nights with more to come tonight.
  4. I assume it's the Eddie, Alex, David, Wolfgang lineup?
  5. My wife and I LOVE the scenes from next week. Absolutely NOTHING is given away. They may as well show scenes from Underdog or Bewitched.
  6. Steven Page did leave. They still put on a helluva show. Saw the a couple of weeks ago in Des Moines. Not one of my favorite bands, but great entertainers.
  7. I was hoping John Randle would've worn his pro wrestler style eye makeup. And tackled someone on the dais.

  9. Buddy Holly was a huge innovator, great songwriter, and performer. He may not have even hit his stride. I certainly do not wish death on Jennings, but would love to hear what Holly had in him. Clapton or Vaughn? SRV's last album w/ his brother was disappointing. Does that mean he was through? No way, but even though Clapton has put out a lot of claptrap since SRV's death, he's also had some great moments, esp. the album w/ JJ Cale. I'd probably be in the minority by saying keep Clapton.
  10. I have been fooled by the opening of the live version of Monday into thinking they were going to go into Rock and Roll All Night.
  11. When YLT played Des Moines, the pulled an audience member out to play drums while Georgia sang. Seemed gimmicky for a band of Yo La Tengo's stature, but it worked.
  12. One of my favorite LPs is Perfectly Good Guitar. Love the song on there he originally wrote for Iggy Pop, Something Wild http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5insc6shv-8&feature=related
  13. To most people on this board, probably not. But if someone paid that, then obviously it was worth it to them.
  14. What part of Jules post did you not get? He may have had his pitching arm amputated, if someone pays him $10 million or $10,000, that's what he's worth.
  15. There's worse fates than making 6 or 7 figures to sit in Camden Yards watching less than mediocre baseball.
  16. Tell me why you like it better than Pandora. I just signed up. I find the interface very busy. Lots of links, but little useful information right up front. We'll see how it turns out, but for now I favor Pandora.
  17. Congratulations on the engagement, Matt. That's a moment that won't soon be forgotten.
  18. This too. This guy's on NPR once or twice a year. http://www.zooglobble.com/
  19. I suppose about 1/2 the pedal steel I've heard in my life was played by him. More like 90% before until I was about 25. RIP.
  20. I want to plug the new Justin Roberts CD, Jungle Gym. Des Moines native now based out of Chicago. I believe his songwriting gets better with each album. Lots of great melodies and words that both kids and parents will appreciate. The video below is a good example of his great music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTpHAbuEQac
