I remember listening to YHF MP3's before it was originally released. I was driving back from a Bob Mould concert in Omaha with a friend. This was on his Modulate (Carnival of Light and Sound) tour that incorporated a lot of electronica. I kept on thinking how much better Wilco incorporated dissonance and electronic sounds than Mould did. I'm pretty sure it was that evening that Mould went from being my favorite to Wilco. BTW, it makes great listening for late night drives.

This decade was really owned by Wes Anderson, Clint Eastwood, and (like the 3 previous decades) Martin Scorcese. I think Eastwood's output (volume & quality) make him the winner. Letters from Iwo Jima, Flags of our Fathers, Million Dollar Baby, Changeling (my favorite of his this decade), and Gran Torino all are great movies.

Beltmann, I'm curious what exactly do you teach? I think I would love to sit in your classroom. If you're as eloquent in your classroom as you are online, it'd be a treat.

The Metallica set is incredible. Can't imagine what they did w/ Sweet Jane, but can't wait to hear them shred White Light / White Heat.

The Vikings could just be pretenders. It's a long season, they've had a fairly easy schedule so far, and Brett's not young. That said, they looked better against the Steelers than I expected they would. Having been a Vikings fan all my life, I just keep waiting for the shoe to drop.

I've been known to ask my jr. high students in their classic rock t-shirts to name members, songs, or albums of the artists on their shirts. It's amazing how little they know. Even w/ the Beatles revival, many kids IN Beatles shirts can't name more than 1 or 2.

Another firefox issue. In the newer versions, if you drag a tab, it will open in a new window. As I browse around quickly on my laptop, I'll often accidentally pick up and drag, opening it in a new window. This has become annoying. I can't find a way to turn this feature off. If anyone knows, I'll be most appreciative.

1st time I saw Wilco in '03, I really didn't know anyone besides Jeff & John. Glenn blew me away! I probably watch him more than anyone. Actually spend the least time watching Jeff.

It was. I'll never watch it again, though, just because I couldn't handle the hardcore scene w/ the broken glass and staple gun.

I remember when Tin Machine 2 came out Musician magazine did a cover story raving about it. I liked the 1st album, I still like much of it. 2 sucked crap. I don't know what they were thinking about Musician magazine. Let's remember, people, that the Sales Bros. rhythm section also gave us "Lust for Life", and for that alone, they belong in the rock and roll hall of fame.

Gimme Fiction was my intro and my favorite. My Mathematical Mind is great.
