i had this problem recently. back when i used Easy CD Creator you could take direct wav files and make a CD instead of having to rip wav to mp3 and then back to wav to burn the Cd (it seems stupid this is the only option to degrade a file when it's unneccesary). i think Windows Media Player has no option to take out the 2 second gap that i can find. Nero has that option but you can still hear a slight pause. it's very annoying. btw - Deep Discount DVD has the Mono box for $209, so i ordered it. $30 lower than Amazon though the Stereo is pretty close.
-
is there a non-torrent place you can download these albums zipped? i've never messed with the torrent stuff.
-
Have they put another cap on producing more Mono sets yet? I would like it, but it wouldn't bother me to wait longer if that means it will go down some.

Someone at Best Buy must've messed up on the pricing
bigideas replied to jff's topic in Someone Else's Song
the only Coltrane i own is A Love Supreme. if i like that is it a given that i will probably like the rest in that set, or is it pretty varied? -
i heard a track or two beforehand - not familiar with their prior work for the most part - and liked those and then it was on sale first week really cheap, maybe $6.99, so i got it. i liked it at the time. what i heard and saw live on TV from the last one didn't do anything for me, so i didn't get it. i think that was one thing i was surprised with MoF because his vocals weren't near as buried as on everything MMJ i've heard.

i wonder if a lot of people bought some copies and if someone will sell it for just a small profit...doubt it. -
yeah, i can only take so much of the super reverb, so i'm not a huge MMJ fan. i got the Z album, that's it.
-
i thought it was pretty good, but when they're all singing together the blend was not right. Jim, I mean, Yim, always sounded on pitch, just a ton of his normal reverb was gone.

Saw Weezer on Letterman tonight...

the references were always there, but they were TRUE to Rivers at that time and much more subtle. these are obvious "going to Best Buy" or whatever it is. go to their Myspace Player. they have all of Raditude and some tracks from the Red Album and then Say It Ain't So. SIAS feels totally different. -

when Blue/Pinkerton were written those seemed to be things he was actually experiencing at the time (maybe romantisized) but Raditude does not feel that way at all. you'd think he'd be writing songs about how much he's in love with his wife or about married life. -
was the post prog Genesis era liked by critics or did they feel mostly like most of you do? i'm beginning to see a parallel with Weezer... i just streamed Raditude and it will be the first Weezer i don't buy, so i wondered if this is how some of you that were around during prog era Genesis felt the same way in the 80's? (surely everyone would put even the poppiest Genesis above Raditude or what you hear on pop radio today, right?)

is it too late to do that? in the past i've seen those coupon e-mails but the Beatles box sets were marked so that no coupons could be used on them. oh wait - i was thinking of Barnes and Noble. is that coupon online somewhere?

is that real - a Weezer/Snuggie partnership? -
With That's All - I just couldn't believe the "but I love you" bridge was making it on that radio station. That was what really stood out to me. Then the keyboards almost seem to be using a Native American scale or what ever is typically associated with Native American music (or what white american thinks it sounds like?). I think there was a renewed interest in Genesis/Phil Collins with that scene in that movie where Mike Tylson air boxes to In the Air Tonight.

Brian Eno (from recent Pitchfork interview): It's surprisingly unrecognized. I find the same thing in all forms of art, things that are very popular. I think everyone's inherently snobbish. Things that are very popular are not taken seriously, because the snobbish side of one says, "Well, if everyone likes it it can't be that good." Whereas if only I and a couple of other people like it, then it must be really something special. Take one dose and apply to I Can't Dance. haha.

i used one of the 2 free downloads for one of the 2008 Mansfield shows, and i was quite surprised that almost the entire show is made up of songs from Yield and earlier.

i thought Friday's performance with the Snuggies was horrible. Red Album and the two Rivers' solo compilations pointed it towards getting back to good, but that performace has got me worried for Raditude (also the album title and cover). it was odd to see another person playing drums for Weezer. -
I bought a used Genesis hits album after getting "That's All" stuck in my head from a crappy adult cont station I had to listen to at work. It was one of the few bright spots on that radio station (the other being Springsteen's "I'm on Fire"). Recently I had to get it out again and have probably listened to "I Can't Dance" 50 times in the last few days. That 'snare' sound that kicks in after "perfect body with a perfect face. mmm hmm" kills me. That hits compilation doesn't really show their prog side at all so when I was looking at their discography I was surprised at how much pre-80's

i quite like the cover. i wonder if they will keep with copying those original Beatles 87 CD's format for the booklet.
-
i just thought to check on Ryan as i hadn't heard anything in a while (for him anyways) and then i realized a new thread was started.
-
i think it's all pretty good, but Whatever Gets You really sticks out on the album (and i believe this was the only one i'd heard prior to on a Lennon comp). a couple of the others seem more or less like Lennon retreads, but i don't recall them being horrible in any way.

New Flaming Lips Album Now Streaming
bigideas replied to ThisIsNowhere's topic in Someone Else's Song
does some of their earlier stuff (pre Bad Days era) sounds like this album? -
really? i was blown away by songs like Scared and Bless You. i had no idea he had done anything like those songs.
-
i don't have any of his cd's with me, but i think Crippled Inside is sorta in that vein. maybe some stuff on Mind Games, too.
