  1. Wow, D-18GE. I am so jealous! Congrats, man. That is a keeper. As for your bookmatched grain: I personally like seeing unusual grain in the spruce. I think it gives it mojo / personality. A reminder that it is wood from a living, breathing tree. YMMV, of course, but I think I would dig it. (if you could post a closer / clearer picture, I'd appreciate it). Don't worry for structural issues, I highly doubt Martin would build a GE w/ sub-par wood. Must ... control ... GAS ...

  3. Here is my take on the "We've Been Had" riff. It is a reworking of the CCR riff which is a reworking of the Ligthnin Hopkins Riff. e|------------------------------- b|-----3---3---3---3------------- g|-2s4---4---4---4----2p0-----0-- d|-------------------------2--0-- a|------------------------------- e|------------------------------- What do you guys think? EDIT: it should be slide not hammer from 2 to 4. I am sure you figured this out already. This is a common riff used from "Down By the River" to "Wish You Were Here" to "Casino Queen" to "I See Monsters" to ...
  4. No doubt... and there are lots of examples, but the one that always gets me is this:
  5. Hilarious. Nominee: Best post of the day.
  6. I have found myself in the opposite situation, actually. I fond myself more inspired by music then ever. Let me explain by putting my musical listening experience in context: Like most youth, I really got into music in high school. I nearly fell on the floor when the drums kicked in on Stairway. I drooled over the intro to Shine On You Crazy Diamond. I was astounded by Blood On The Tracks. My tastes ran the gamut from Anthrax to Steve Miller to Robert Johnson to John Coltrane. But then, during the 1990s, I kinda lost interest. FM radio kept playing the same Lyrnrd Skynrd songs over and ove
  7. I recently began reading Infinite Jest (about 100 pages in, so far). A few initial impressions: 1. The language is both captivating, as well as, infuriating. How is that possible? 2. The filmography of James Incadenza in the footnotes could be a very interesting stand-alone short story, no? I need more time to digest it. 3. I am learning more than expected about drugs and tennis. 4. I feel like I am slowly being let in on a secret club or an inside joke. 5. Coincidentaly, I am also reading Y: The Last Man whose protagonist is named "Yorick". Yorick being the skull who Hamlet describe
  8. I do still like KT. AGiB is my favorite record and there are some great moments here. ATLWYS is picture perfect. Love the spartan Hell is Chrome. The solo is sublime. The opening drums of Misunderstood still gives me chills. The Poor Places -> Spiders transition is classic. Yeah, it holds up.
  9. So true. RIP Les. and thanks.
  10. Ambitious. Go for it dude. I, too, have daydreamed about covering a whole LP solo acoustic (but probably stretch it out a little more ).
  11. Wow. Jealous. Looks sweet. Gotta love(hate) the Gibby Adj bridges of that era. Don't let anyone talk you into swapping it: it just screams mojo (if not necessarily tone). Congrats.
  12. You can get all of this (and the four Modern Guilt guilt acoustic tracks) here.
  13. I am sure that I am not alone in this, but every once in a while I like to make a playlist of songs that I am currently digging. Postal Service - Against All Odds Phil Collins Cover) 3. Unlikely Japan - Wilco (You Never Know B-side) 4. Solitaire - WIlco 5. Love Vigilantes - Iron & Wine (cover) 6. 15. Not 1 cent, but this is a steal for under 5 bucks, IMHO. Pink Floyd - Animals (Remastered)
  16. I don't think this is quite how that DB plays it, but it is how this DB plays it, tho YMMV. |--------------------|-----------------| |--------------------|-----------------| |--4-2-0-2-0---------|--2~------0-4-0--| |--4---------4-------|--2~-2s4---------| |--2-----------------|--0~-------------| |--------------------|-----------------|
