  2. yeah barring all of those, i figured so. haha.
  3. speaking of the loft, are there any photos of it online? or a website or anything? i guess it's strictly private huh.
  4. classic link. i have WOIIFTM and Bongo Fury. i understand him and Mr. Van Vliet were best friends. i definitely have to listen to his work more. much more. i appreciate.
  5. i wasn't impressed with the album at first, but it eventually sunk in how great it is. "Nobody's Off The Hook" is my favorite song, so is "Tiergarten", the title track, etc i missed him at Barnes and Noble yesterday because I had an essay to write. but i'm seeing him for the first time next month. totally excited. and he playing for free at Summerstage. good times.
  6. you're absolutely right. i meant to say, "this is still Jeff, the same great man. just toned down" haha.
  7. what a thread. haha. i appears that people are acting like SBS is how Wilco is going to sound from now on. it's only the record Jeff wanted to make at this point in his life. every record has been different from the last and SBS's successor won't be any different. i certainly hope not. for the record, the album is definitely not their best effort, but it truly doesn't have to be. it's essentially a love letter to Sue, a simplistic album of simple lyrics and simple thoughts and vibes. take it for what it is, or leave it. i guess you'll have to wait for the next album. hopefully that one will
  8. same here. love Dylan. but then again, we don't have to be in our 50's and 60's to truly appreciate him. as long we listen to and truly love his music, insteading of pretending like Bob Dylan, then we're fine : )
  9. bingo. i tried to explain this concept to someone on alt-country.org (the ryan adams message board) and they just couldn't get it. at all. it was depressing. because i knew it made perfect sense. they presumed i meant that fans of bands that become popular are naturally idiots and what i meant is that the majority of newfound fans are people that are simply following a trend or something. i personally wouldn't mind too much though. they deserve it, if anything. they are big already though, in a way.
  10. interesting. you are surely right. and maybe i'm completely deaf. but i literally cannot hear any significant difference between the ripped version and the official I bought yesterday. sorry, but i seriously cannot. it's odd. i wanted to but i didn't. still, having the object in my hands, with the DVD and booklet and all is that matters.
  11. i don't know why but i had "i want my baby back, baby back, baby back, baby back, baby back, baby back ribs" in my head all afternoon. its gone now. i put SBS on. haha.
  12. yeah, Nels blows me away during the solo of Impossible Germany. i didn't see it coming. i knew he was going to improvise, but not like that. and listening to him name all the influences he sees sprouting out in his playing. good stuff. gonna watch it again tonight.
  13. exactly. i like your posts btw. they remind me of how i post. really passionate.
  14. very much so. i'm listening to Either Way and others much differently now. it's obviously about Jeff's appreciation for his wife and her loving him through thick and thin.
  15. Jeff owns "Dongs of Devotion" by Smog just a little tidbit i noticed in his record collection. haha.
  16. haha Rickles "can i ask you a question?... are you holding something?" haha.
  17. so us in the US get to listen to the first London show. great. they better play some old song they never play anymore to mark the special occasion.

    Letterman tomorrow

thanks for the report Charlie : )
  19. yeah those are elementary school walls. haha.
  20. i have realized that i am torn between two thoughts and feelings of this album on one hand i feel exactly like Sgt. G does (that's how i felt when i first heard it, and still do) but then again, in the last few days and now that i've got the cd, i feel exactly like tongue-tied does. it's a middle thing.
  21. haha yeah the rug and bookshelves and guitar racks and lamps and Pier 1 curtains really make it look homey. it's funny how when buying a record sometimes, it oddly takes the actual object in someones hands for them to fully appreciate it's artistic merit. the dvd of them talking about making the record and the lyrics booklet, for example, with the photo of them in the Loft staring at the camera really helps. its like they're saying, "We made this all for you. Love us as you already do. Though you may not know the full extent of your love, you will after a few listens." haha. there's just s
