Not me, but thanks for trying! That's awesome to have a photo with Jeff from way back when. -

I was at the show too, and also met the band at their tour bus =) I think there were only six Wilco fans in attendance, all of whom were at the bus. I was too cool for autographs or asking for photos back then, but at least i still remember it well! -

June 15, 2001 - Murry Hammond dedicated Can't Get a Line (which is pretty much my favorite Old 97s song too) to me, or rather to my shirt. He first dedicated the song to some band, and then also "and the guy in the Who shirt! We're dedicating this song to your shirt, because we like The Who!" -
I've got one extra ticket for Friday May 1, 2015 - St. Augustine. Section 103, Row C. $45. It is an actual ticket being mailed to me. Would prefer to mail it, but could meet at venue. Email me: rob@yazcountry.com

Sweet, we could say hi at the show if you'd like. I wasn't sure if any other Wilcoers followed him! I also forgot that I am going to three Who shows this year, including the finale in Philly. Going twice with my brother whose record collection got me into The Who, and music in general.

Finally posted some photos I took from the pit this night: http://www.yazcountry.com/rob/concerts/Wilco-2014-01.html -
When they spent all of 2014 playing festivals and touring like crazy and building up the fanbase Not only are they talented musicians but they are smart people who seem to have business/marketing savvy. NYC is their adopted hometown anyway, so it figured to be a big crowd. They played some small club in Albany the night before and Higher Ground in VT 2 nights prior, so they aren't doing nationwide arena tours just yet!

Sounds like a plan! I thought for sure they'd bust it out after talking about going to the Hall of Fame and seeing a bunch of broken bats, LOL.- 216 replies

Well then, here's to hoping for Kamera (Fuzz Mix)! Or are they only doing stuff off the box set? -

Yeah, I can hear ya on that... many songs were new to me too (Would you believe I never even heard Get Lucky before?) But there was enough stuff that I knew that they nailed, and some stuff I was totally hoping for. So it had a little bit of everything, and I liked that combination most of all. I know they never expressly said it would be covers, so it was open to interpretation. Night 2 ended up as the night of Wilco requests. But I guess there just wasn't enough ballot-stuffing for Sunloathe, or Blasting Fonda, or anything really rare- 216 replies

2nd that. I'd been hoping for one of my favorite bands to do an all-covers show for years. Covers, an all-acoustic show, an album show - Wilco could do any of those things, announced or unannounced, and I'd be ecstatic.- 216 replies

Wilco — 12/8/14, Chicago, IL (Riviera Theatre) [Winterlude Night 3]
Yaz Rock replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
Yup, I know the feeling. Pearl Jam recently played my two favorite albums in entirety - ten-fifteen years ago I might've been a bit jealous for not being in attendance, but now I am thrilled that they did this "one off" (er, two off?) even if I wasn't there. It's great for the band to feel the freedom to do something unannounced like that, and great for all the fans. I've been to plenty of epic shows by now and will surely get some other special gigs down the line. The Riviera reviews have been great to read so far and it is awesome to see what Wilco is doing for this hometown anniversary run -
Lucius killed it tonight at Terminal 5 in NYC. Their biggest headlining show yet, and they deserved every bit of the adulation tossed their way. Their set included a cover of Bob Dylan's "When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky" and the Kinks' "Stangers," which was also a vocal contribution by Jeff Tweedy on the last Golden Smog album. Ended the show with "Happy XMas (War is Over)." They played most if not all of their album, but no new material. (Or maybe they did? There's one song I didn't recognize - not sure if cover or not.) They went for the crowd surfing thing but the audience seeme

Nice writeup, and thanks for sharing. RE "and “Red-Eyed and Blue > I Got You (At the End of the Century) to close a show.: Around the first few times I saw Wilco and began collecting bootlegs this was actually a triple combo, Red Eyed > I Got You > Someone Else's Song. Still to this day that's how my brain expects those tunes to appear in a show. However, I thought it kicked ass that they opened with I Got You at SS 2013. I hope they come up with some great stuff for all of you in Chicago!

I consider myself something of a "serious collector" and likewise probably shared some of the initial disappointment that the track listing didn't include any "brand new," never-heard-by-anyone, non-album songs. However there actually are a few songs I've never heard outright, including Childlike and Evergreen, The TB is Whipping Me, I Am Not Willing, Thirteen, Tried and True, and Old Maid. And I never bothered to track down the live versions or demo versions of album songs that are included here. It would be easy to dismiss them, given the scope of live bootlegs and now Roadcase releases that

I don't necessarily mean that they did it dramatically different, but I know that everybody did their part right, with perhaps a bit more urgency, and that Nels was a bit more frenetic, than I remember - a "firing on all cylinders" musical happening that doesn't occur every night, when all the musicians hit the right notes at the right times and took me somewhere else for two minutes. -

I forgot that I wanted to comment specifically on Ashes of American Flags. I remember at the show getting lost in the outtro jam and thinking to myself "what song is this?", and then realizing that they were still in Ashes... Maybe it has been played that way before, or maybe it's just been a while since I've heard it in-person, but the jam seems to have taken on a new feel. I distinctly remember my first listen to YHF and thinking that Ashes was going to be my favorite song because it sounded like it was right out of Pink Floyd's Live at Pompeii era. Very heavy and dark and spacey. Now it so -
Thanks Roadhse, glad you liked it! Thanks for sharing your thoughts as well - glad that you made it to Night 1 too! I am also looking forward to seeing the setlists the mornings after the Chicago shows. They've got to top themselves now!

Yaz Rock replied to jcap1767's topic in After The Show
I agree - they ought to give the two sites different names. I think the live page has cornered the market on "Roadcase," so to speak, even though it is the newer outlet. Even if the releases are official, I prefer something "bootleg"-related (as Pearl Jam calls theirs.) "These boots' were made for Wilcoing." Sorry, I have no idea what that means, but had to get it out there. Bah. -
I too picked up all three shows. They sound great. I wasn't sure how Ripple would come out, usually official live recordings are conducted in a manner that reduces crowd noise as much as possible, but the audience sing-a-long comes out fine. Hard to pick a favorite night, so it's great to have all three shows. I kinda look at each night as 1/3 of a really long show [heck, Jeff even suggested as much, ya know, "we'll take a short break, and come back tomorrow night" ]. I also don't recall any announcement prior to these shows that Wilco was going to do entirely different setlists each night

Did you look at the right Roadcase? At the Kungfu store: http://wilco.kungfustore.com/roadcase.html (Not to be confused with the Wilcoworld streaming Roadcase: http://wilcoworld.net/#!/roadcases/) All three shows are up at the store. -
