  1. I would hope he tried that but you are right, if you don't move the arm it may not move. Let's put it this way. If your turntable isn't working right now, the prognosis for it is poor. Turntables are mechanical and do break down with normal wear and tear. Some turntables are direct drive and don't have belts. LouieB
  2. So any word on how this is faring compared to Michael Jackson? LouieB
  3. Temple Emanuel is a liberal congregation, but maybe not THAT liberal. LouieB
  4. A turntable that doesn't turn is broken. Take it back, just like you would with any product that doesn't work. What's not to get? Did you buy it from someone off the back of a truck or what? LouieB
  5. I am sure there was some lawyer somewhere who briefed Jeff on how to answer such questions, knowing he was going into interview season. It was a good answer, not totally bitter, but very forthright. LouieB
  6. Finally the Cubs can go lose for some other owner.... LouieB
  7. I honestly can't wait for the next election if she is the Republican candidate. She is going to get her ass handed to her by a far more seasoned Obama. Then again she could just be in this for the money (or maybe there is a super juicy scandal yet to break.) LouieB
  8. actually the entire band looks like sleepy kissers... LouieB
  9. I recently saw the Dirty Projectors...it is sometimes difficult to tell what the hell they are doing.... but they do it okay. I noticed they like Andrew Bird on another episode. LouieB
  10. Sadly this guy will always be known as a world class scumbag. LouieB
  11. Someone in the Wilco camp is doing their job. Kudos to them. LouieB
  12. Lists of musicians that really have nothing to do with each other. At least Wilco is mentioned. LouieB
  13. What fun is that? But the New Yorker did publish a pic from about this time in their tribute to him. The latter day Michael was such a freak it is frankly painful to look at those pictures. He looks so sad and fucked up. LouieB
  14. Nice work....sure glad Wilco loves me.... LouieB
  15. There is a way to stop this, but of course it is too late. Don't start sending advance copies to everyone on earth six weeks in advance. Most people who are going to buy an album are going to buy either the CD or the LP so they now have a physical copy. The rest may be just as happy with an early download copy and never buy the $9.99 version since it is basically the same thing as the free copy. When every fan who wants to hear a new album can in fact hear that new album (even me and I didn't even figure out how to download the fucking thing....)before it comes out, analyze the crap ou
  16. There may or may not be much behind this story, but without actually being governor at the time she runs for President she may have a hard road. Who is going to believe she is an administrator when she hasn't done anything for three years?? LouieB
  17. That's nice of them. They actually kept alot of stuff in vinyl for along time until it appeared vinyl was really on the way out. LouieB
  18. And the answer is??? What did W(TA) come in at?? LouieB
  19. Great actor with a great career. I had forgotten he was from the Chicago area and had worked in the steel mills of Gary, Indiana. LouieB
  20. Maybe up in Rockford they still have a factory that makes these things. Clearly at 30 bucks a shot this is a true specialty item, since 8tracks were a pretty crappy (but innovative) technology. I can't imagine too many people still have players. Those who never experienced them, they often broke off in the middle of songs because there were four tracks. Crazy. LouieB
  21. Thanks to Samorama for putting this together with the Wilco Ensemble. Fun night...sorry I couldn't stay to the end. Oh well.... It attracted people in from town who were Wilco fans. I met a guy from New Mexico and another from somewhere (senior moment..) who was in for the Hotel Restaurant Workers Union. Both were at the Hideout for the first time. LouieB
  22. Played this for the first time yesterday...interesting... LouieB
  23. I will believe this when I see it, as in some actual rehab starting on the place. Considering it has been closed for a quarter of a century and will cost millions to restore, who knows. It would be a great place for a Wilco show for sure, maybe a whole week's worth. Just drove by it today actually. LouieB
  24. Hey Rosie is back on the air.....wdbx.orgplaying all kinds of crazy stuff on thursdays at 10 PM. LouieB
