  1. ah ok. i had several friends that couldn't get tickets for the VA show and was going to get suspicious that they were overselling the venue by putting up more lawn seats in the afternoon. when radiohead played merriweather, i heard the venue was oversold and eXtremely crowded. hope that's not the case for the VA show.
  2. i've met several VCers! hummingbird, wilcogirl (ok technically we were next to each other at a show and didn't realize it until after the fact, but will actually meet at philly), foolinrain, j4lackey and jenny, jimmyjimmy (oh did i get that wrong), edie, julie jim and lilac rain, soon to be about 28 other vcers, , and last but not least, bigshoulders !
  3. phew! i got to lawn seats for nissan pavillion, i was on ticketmaster at 10am exact, it was crazy. i didn't even look to see what seats they gave me, i just clicked through for fear of losing the tickets (since that's happened to me a couple of times now because of servers timing out). it is the lawn, but am just happy to know i'll get to see radiohead live, at least once. then again, last time i had radiohead tickets, the show got cancelled...gulp...
  4. just got a report in from the frontlines that the show was amazing, and yes, there was candyfloss! everyone sounded so pumped and had such a good time. uggggh, so jealous and upset that i can't be there. 4 more nights for everyone to go.
  5. glad it wasn't just me. wilco does presale way better. am bracing myself for the ticketmaster battle tomorrow.
  6. i tried for the VA/DC show, had two tickets on the screen and then the server timed out as it was processing. then puff gone. i didn't really expect to get any today though. i think i was dense and never saw an exact time posted at to when the presale was starting. i got logged on moments after 9am and they were gone by 9:10am. guess i'll be doing the ticketbastard stress out fight on saturday. i really do hope i get to see radiohead before i die. i had tickets to their Bull Run show in VA several years ago and it got cancelled and no reschedule. talk about disappointing. *funny as i type th
  7. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/goingoutgur...d=news-col-blog this was in the post today. nissan is ages away from DC. i don't think it is close to anything (civilized that is).
  8. greatest hits and radiohead in the same sentence seems counter intuitive. i don't get it. record company must be trying to make up for the money they didn't make on In Rainbows with the free download maybe. funny how they'll get behind a band and treat them like they are mainstream and were behind them all along after the fact. in my humble opinion, we should ignore the greatest hits. i can't imagine splitting apart any of the radiohead albums and putting them back together again piecemeal. it seems so unnatural.

  11. two days in a row now, NPR has plalyed Wilco in between news segments. Someone must be a fan! Yesterday was "Spiders" and today was "Shake it Off."
  12. remember flashdance??? would that be considered a welding movie??? seriously, how cool! am totally geeking out on this. what a great teaser website. that j.j.
  13. i think i'll put it towards the loss i had to take on my house when i sold it...thanks W.
  14. I really really didn't like Beck when he first came on the scene. Now I like Beck. I used to like Ani DiFranco, then I got my ipod and she kept coming up on shuffle and I'd skip it everytime. Ani is no longer on my ipod. Not a fan anymore.
  15. I'm 5'5" a chic and have a pretty nice record collection (that includes Abby Road and Sticky Fingers with an actual working zipper).
  16. thought of some other options: Aquent. they are a staffing agent for creatives, design, marketing. www.aam-us.org is the american association of museums, they have a job bank that lists marketing, communcations, and design jobs, sometimes not all museum based, some are design firms that work for museums. also, if there's a firm/company you want to work for, cold call them/send in your resume. that's how i got my first job.
  17. I have an extra ticket to tonight's Blonde Redhead show at the 9:30 club here in Washington, DC. I really don't want the ticket to go to waste. PM me if you'd like to go. ___ edit: ticket has been spoken for.
  18. ok so i sent my santa gift in Dec and it came back to me. i tried again today! my recipient knows it is going to be excessively late though. phew!
  19. is it just me or does it seem like the golden globes don't count this year since there was no pomp and circumstance and sparkley dresses???
  20. if you're in marketing/graphic design try: AIGA.org and their job bank; Communications Arts' job bank; SEGD job bank; USA Jobs (for government jobs, the listing is called Visual Information Specialist); and when you do searches on Monster and Career Builder get creative in the key words, a lot of times Marketing/Graphic Design jobs are posted under other names such as Art Director, Creative Director, Creative Assistant, and so forth.
  21. this was first: although the next 11 images are all either my artwork or design work, guess those meta crawlers are finally working for me.
  22. I love Harry Nilsson! "Without You" is one of the best love songs ever made and Mariah Carey ruined it. When I was a teenager, I discovered my mom's 45s and she had "Without You". I listened to it all the time. She thought I was strange (I also listened to Metallica at the time). I still have the 45 (and my mom doesn't know I have it, so shhhhh). Although, I think he is much more known for being a "songwriter" and not a "singer" i could be wrong about that.
