I'm Not There - Soundtrack Revealed?
Smokestack Joe replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
ATOMIC RECORDS in Milwaukee has it. thats where i bought it on the day of its release. -
i saw them open for The Jayhawks on their Rainy Day Music tour. out of all the opening bands Ive seen, they blew me away! great stage presence, music hits you in the face. I bought the live record which i believe is one of their best. i think i will check it out. want to see Gary's input on it

hey yeah bruins 7-5. Kessel and the Boys have some pressure in town since Patriots and Celtics have good chance of all winning championships. If Bruins make playoffs, fans will be happy. if bruins win Lord Stanley's Cup, would that be a bigger party than Sox, Celts, or Pats?? probably not... -
the day i got AM and Summerteeth on vinyl were happy days, now when they are reissued for 75% less than i paid for those vinyls, bummed
-
didnt get it in milwaukee. saw Tribute to Bluesman Jimmy Reed, quite good though.

On the newsstand, one year of Paste costs $65.45; one-year subscriptions are $19.95. In February, we will recognize those who pay the most (more than the subscription price) in the magazine

what do you fine people think of the new record? I passed it up at the record store but i am curious as Gary Louris produced it and contributes on the record.

i just bought this today at Atomic Records in Milwaukee, they had the vinyl but i passed, i was drooling though, 8 sides! nice liner notes package with many photos of the actors that portray Dylan, can't wait to listen especially Cline/Verlaine pairing. Cline is all over this record as in Calexico. -
hopefully not a Chicago Cub, that would not be the right choice.

thanks for responding lammycat. what you say is correct and i am well aware of your points. justified? sure, but my opinion is that it is overdone. not bitter about it, just like to see teams getting dues when deserved. rockies are getting their dues but overshadowed by Joe Torre, Josh Beckett, Manny Ramirez....
-
yes i agree that it is a sports network and that the rockies werent newsworthy up until late august. ESPN just has a love affair with NY BOS with whatever, however they do in baseball.
-
so long Joe, Milwaukee loves you. come back if you want.

RANDOM BASEBALL THOUGHTS: the sports media will never get over their love affair/obsession/masterbatory relationship with the hated NY Yankees, "everything Yankees" who cares, the era is over!!!! you got rid of Torre, great man, great manager, and you stiffed him with a disrespectful contract. Girardi, LaRussa, Kennedy, Mattingly wont be able to get this team back to the status of the late 90s. deal with it!!! Manny Ramirez is one, if not the best, talented right handed hitters in a long time. yeah yeah "manny being manny" his lax attitude may be his success but it doesnt look or sound goo
-
thanks for the clips. i had a similar encouter in Madison a few years back, i snuck into the orpheum theatre via back entrance and watched the whole soundcheck. beautiful. and sneaking into the soundcheck at Otto's in DeKalb for the first official show with Nels and first show after rehab. amazing!

The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
Smokestack Joe replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
i thought that quote was funny. The Jayhawks opened for Petty in Minneapolis at an arena show circa Tomorrow The Green Grass era and when they chopped into Waiting For The Sun the crowd wents nuts thinking it was Petty playing Mary Jane's Last Dance. -
