  1. Thanks for the updates, Jen... I know what you mean when you say you're not sure what his quality of life will be, but I know that when my aunt was in the same situation, the hope that she could get through it superceded any other concerns. She was fighting, and that was all that mattered. I'm praying hard for him to keep fighting.
  2. Vibes a-plenty coming your way from the great northeast, Lammy.
  3. vibage from the great northeast... can you do a CB4 sequel, too? Oh, and remember... whiskey AFTER pitch, not vice versa.
  4. What a fantastic album! "Aht Uh Mi Hed" is my favorite track.
  5. Very very VERY cool story... proud of you for letting him have the space, I'm sure he would've been up for some conversation, but I'm sure he appreciated that, despite letting on that you knew who he was, you held back... a true New Yawka!
  6. Thanks to my wonderfully short attention span, my background changes every minute. Soccer stars, rock n rollers, superheroes, race car drivers, nieces & nephews, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Steelers, guitars, Flaming Carrot, beer... anything goes.
  7. Oh mercy, the Night Train to Nashville collections are fantastic. Got to meet Alan Stoker who was the audio supervisor on both collections on my last visit to the Country Music HOF (thank you Josh xoxo). Haven't picked up any numero group stuff, but it is time... thank you for the tip, sir! edit: that what it is set is fantastic, too... LOVE the track "sexy coffee pot"
  8. Yeah, it's a compilation, but... none of these songs were released on LPs. It's a collection of A-sides from 45s by various artists written and produced (and often played on) by Curtis Mayfield for OKeh records in the mid-1960s. It features Billy Butler & the Enchanters (Jerry's brother), Major Lance, Walter Jackson, Gene Chandler, and the Opals. It's out of print and somewhat tough to get (there are some decently-priced used copies on Amazon), but it has become one of my favorite discs of all time. If you like 60s soul, these songs will jump right to the front of your favorites.
  9. Thanks for the update, Jen; I'm so glad to hear that your mom got to have some time with him. Miraculous things like that remind you just how powerful the human spirit can be. He continues to be in my prayers, and the Vibe-o-meter has just been turned up to an unprecedented 2,300 vpm.
  10. holy fuck, Keith John!!! Little Willie John (check out "Fever", "Grits Ain't Groceries", and his ballad "Talk to Me" which makes me MELT) is one of my all-time favorite singers... his sister, Mable was amazing too (check out her version of "Your Good Thing is About to End" on Stax). Keith can rip it up!! Royalty singing with royalty... wonderful!
  11. We'll just continue to play here in the corner while everyone goes about their business...
  12. I am "that guy!" Posted silly yesterday...
  13. That must've been so much fun to see, Wendy. Stevie is just so amazing.
  14. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who wanted to post a silly answer. I was starting to feel a bit embarassed.
  15. The best line of the night was when Danny DeVito was dropping acid and said, "I'm gonna trip BALLS!" And Charlie dancing as the Green Man with the McBoyle family... I'm still laughing out loud. You're right. Best comedy on ([not so] free) TV.
  16. wow oh wow... to see Stevie in his hometown! So glad he gave as much extra as he did. And so cool that his daughter was part of the band. Did he dedicate "Isn't She Lovely" to Aisha... after all, the song is about her. I still consider his 1996 show at Radio City Music Hall the best concert I've ever been to. So glad you had such a great time!!!
  17. absolutely hysterical. One of the few titles my dvr is instructed to record, and I'm never around to catch it in person, so I get to binge on it once a month or so, and I always laugh out loud.
  18. The last time they surprised me was when I went to watch Monday Night Football at a Buffalo Wild Wings just off the interstate. I had had a tough day. I walk in, and who's there at my usual booth yelling "surprise" but Jeff, John, Pat, Nels, Mike, & Glenn... all with party hats and horns. I was shocked! We laughed, ate wild wings, and had fun. (sorry, couldn't resist, silly mood today )
  19. He's in our prayers, Jen... maximum vibes emanating from the Great Northeast.
  20. I find Keen shoes to be the most comfortable by far for my wide foot, so I've got several pairs of those now. Just ordered a pair of Simple sneakers, too:
  21. played my weekly tuesday night show at Slane in the West Village tonight, and though I've seen those twin lights in the past, tonight they seemed stronger than ever, and just like Matt says, having them pierce the low clouds made it even more intense. It reminded me of how the top of both towers would disappear when low clouds were in the area. At one point, the clouds made it seem that the lights were ending right where the top of the World Trade Center would be, and out of your peripheral vision, it was as it they were there again. Leaving NYC, the sky was clear, and the lights went all th
  22. Johnny, your work is absolutely magnificent. Boone Creek Blues is glorious.
