Ha. No, there were no guests on stage for Spiders. I think JB was out of town. Bobb Bruno did lend a percussion hand at the end of the night, though!

The other guy was Chris Seefried. From what I hear he is a friend of Jimmy Vivino's.

You are correct! (There's pretty much a week until this thread is entirely superfluous?)

Deeper Down, then Pick Up the Change, then Can't Stand It? Are you kidding me?

Well, Jeff and Glenn didn't come out to play Chinese Apple in Granada. That would have been the ultimate local pandering opportunity ... but a bit of a stretch, I'll admit. It does sound like a fun show. Was there rock memorabilia everywhere? I've seen HOB shows, but never a show at a Hard Rock.

Can someone please explain the Tweedy "Living Room Shows"?

Yeah, that's the "you can't trust anybody" view. And sometimes it's true, but sometimes it's not. -

The funny thing about the whole "elitism" argument is that if show attendees never shared anything online - didn't share any pictures or setlists at all - nobody else would know they'd even taken place. Do you know who was at my house this week? Nope. -
I may have to go listen to Red Hill Mining Town right now.

Everyone seems to be excited about playing Deeper Down! I'm really glad that they're waiting for the 3-night stand at the Wiltern to debut it, though.*** ***I completely made this up -
Call it abuse of moderator privileges if you wish; I couldn't take it anymore. (No offense to the topic starter - half the people I've ever talked to about the city seem to call it Royal Oaks.)

From Spin: http://www.spin.com/reviews/wilco-wilco-album-nonesuch Wilco, 'Wilco (the album)' (Nonesuch) Jeff Tweedy's reassuring songbook helps us accept life's never-ending flaws. BY DAVID MARCHESE 06.16.09 9:57 AM 4/5 stars As far as rock'n'roll is concerned, status quo is for suckers. New boss same as the old boss? fuck 'em both. Accordingly, in their own insular way, Wilco have spent their 15-year existence struggling against stasis. Whether it's alt-country, '70s-influenced chamber pop, Woody Guthrie covers, or Radiohead-refracted Americana, frontman Jeff Tweedy has felt compell -
Thanks for sharing, Keith and Charles. I'm an enthusiastic very-much-amateur photographer, but I find it hard to take candid shots of others and not worry about being conspicuous. This is actually more of a dilemma for me out in the wild, so to speak, but also a factor at shows. I take my share of concert shots, but usually try (futilely, I'm sure) to shoot when nobody is looking. I admire folks who have gotten past that, but at the same time I'm pretty sure that a fan snapping photos nonstop through an entire show would be annoying. It must be somewhat freeing to have a photo pass - it's

Not exactly a review, but an interview in which Jeff talks about some songs from the album: http://www.californiachronicle.com/articles/yb/131551352 Hard Road: Wilco Battles Bizarre Twists to Roll Out New Album June 13, 2009 By Doug Pullen, El Paso Times, Texas Jun. 13--EL PASO -- Talk about a nightmarish way to roll out a new album. Wilco's eighth album, and seventh studio effort, "Wilco (The Album)," was leaked on the Internet five weeks before its official June 30 release date. Then came the double whammy: Former member Jay Bennett sued for breach of contract last month, then died i -

The Gibson reissue of one of the late '50s models, I think? And I've never seen that double neck guitar. Rock and roll. Thank you for the reports. I'm glad to hear they played Sonny Feeling - another one that's now fair game for the upcoming shows. -
You'll do great, Bea!

Are some people still having trouble logging in? I know it's been intermittently down for awhile now, so maybe people aren't even trying. But it still seems odd that there are 3-4 people online right now. -

Somehow this thread is responsible for the fact that "Careless Whisper" is now running through my head. I don't know why, but there it is. Thanks a lot. -
Thanks! I was lucky to see him open for Bon Iver back in December here, but was out of town for the most recent appearances. It's seemed like he's been in Wisconsin quite a bit over the past 6 months or so. I guess he's touring in the U.S. pretty vigorously - hopefully earning fans as he goes.

We stayed at the parador, and it was wonderful.

The performances have varied a little bit in the details. Listening to the recorded version again today, I definitely notice that it sounds fuller live. I think Jeff has some sort of vocal processing going on for the song, too - it doesn't smack you in the face, but I don't think I was imagining it. The ending might go on a little longer than it does on the album, but there's no five-minute jam or anything. Just very intense guitar playing. I think it was in Málaga that Nels broke a string or two and briefly wrapped the broken string around his neck while playing. Yikes! I think the

Yeah, I know that when people tell others on here that they should try listening to a song again, or that they "don't get it," it usually takes about five minutes for someone to come along with accusations of condescension. But seriously, DeRo?

And these details are vital. VITAL! Let's start sorting out "a" vs. "the" next.
