I don't think these count as revelations, but (not that Donna hadn't confirmed it) yes on Synthesizer Patel. And I wasn't very close to the front for I'll Fight, but I'm standing by "gold" for now. "The gold as I was told for a place where my body could be laid."

I thought that the poem called "Unlikely Japan" kind of morphed into Loose Fur's "Wanted." So this probably isn't that, exactly.

During One Wing, Pat is up front and plays guitar for most of the song but also plays a small keyboard during some parts. This song is the first time I remember seeing multitasking of that fashion.

Wilco -- 3/6/09, San Sebastian (Donostia), Spain
Preferred B replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
They actually played it at the first concert in Milwaukee in April, and apparently in Tenerife as well. I was very happy to hear it again in San Sebastian! -

Ha! And the slides are playground equipment? -
I'm not usually a fan of fests, but this one was pretty unusual. Gates didn't open until 10:00 pm, and at the main stage were Akron/Family at 10:30, Wilco at 11:45, and Jayhawks around 1:40 am. I had a great time, and thought the versions of Bull Black Nova and You Never Know were the best I'd seen yet.

Banoffee ice cream from the theater lobby is always a winner. I really had fun tonight. Muchas gracias a Madrid! Loved hearing "You Never Know" - as soon as Glenn started out with those drum beats I knew it was on. "Bull Black Nova" was excellent again, but it's not just the new songs that are highlights. Spanish crowds seem to love "Impossible Germany." I mean, it's not unusual that a crowd would love the song. But the reactions I've seen so far seem to go above and beyond what I'm used to in the U.S. The "Magazine" dedication to Nate came about because Jeff claimed Nate goes

Thanks for the report. Jeff said something about Bull Black Nova being a "fluffy little bunny" next time. I don't think there's much danger of that.

Been to Moscow or St. Petersburg? Tell me about it!
Preferred B replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I've been to Moscow. Visit GUM (if you like to shop?), the Kremlin area of course (I seem to recall inside a cathedral paintings that looked exactly like South Park characters and being pissed that I couldn't take pictures), and catch a ballet at the Bolshoi. -
Yep, definitely true. The difference with sandbag seems to be that that they do not tell you which seats you're buying.
-
You're not the first person this has happened to with Spanish shows. it's tough because they don't tell you which tickets you have before purchase. If you'd like to contact Wilcoworld, the address is (or was) hq@wilcoworld.net.

I'm going to start a new general thread for published articles/reviews, and attempt to move the posts related to the Timeout Chicago blurb over there. So if half of this thread disappears by mistake you'll know who was responsible.

Poor Places You Are My Face Dreamer in My Dreams

Wow, I love the harmonies in that song, and pretty much everything about how it's sung. BBN is my favorite, though. The only song I'm not feeling is Everlasting Everything.

Ah, but many of us have. I was lucky enough to see Split Enz in Wellington last year, which was really fun. I'm looking forward to the output from the 7WC sessions very much, and hope that someone in NZ tapes the 1-hour behind-the-scenes documentary airing later this month so the rest of us can see it.

Yep! Noted that above, in one of my million posts in this thread. Heh.

Or after September.

Ah, we're hearing something similar. I don't hear souls, at all. But I am hearing "our town." Or "our tale." And might the verb be "size up"? Just ignore us, everyone! Nothing to see here!

That whole verse in I'll Fight has a lot of things I'm not sure about. I need another listen to it live. Can't believe I squandered an "opportunity" so recently in Milwaukee because I didn't know the song well at that point. However, I'm betting there will be more chances. Super-size it by 10 does seem to work better. Still doesn't make a lot of sense to me, though. Also, "long, heavy hell," I could see that. If I were at all musical I'm sure I would be all over the tabs forum. As it is, I'm here. Sorry.

The song about "house chores" was written in the Uncle Tupelo days. I think people have a lot of incorrect ideas of when (and in response to what) some songs were written. (As Jules pointed out.) The choice of when to release them, I guess, would be the only applicable point.
